On the M256 it is the part that constrains the gases the most: replacing it is the only way to gain power, provided you add a remap. Without a remap you get sound and a little weight, nothing more. The 200-cell sport catalytic converter retains exhaust after-treatment; the 100-cell version and the catalyst-free variant do not.
