On a naturally aspirated engine its design matters: lengths and geometry affect cylinder filling at high revs. The gain is real but modest, in the order of 3 to 8 %, and only with a remap. Badly designed, it costs you torque down low. The 200-cell sport catalytic converter retains exhaust after-treatment; the 100-cell version and the catalyst-free variant do not.
