On a naturally aspirated engine its design is not cosmetic: lengths and geometry decide cylinder filling at high revs. Paired with a remap it returns in the order of 3 to 8 %, a real but modest gain. Badly designed, it costs you torque down low. The 200-cell sport catalytic converter retains exhaust after-treatment; the 100-cell version and the catalyst-free variant do not.
