On the N20 it is the part that restricts the gases the most: replacing it is the only way to go after power, and solely with a remap. Without it you gain sound and lose a little weight, not a single horsepower. The 200-cell sport catalytic converter retains exhaust after-treatment; the 100-cell version and the catalyst-free variant do not.
