On this turbo V6 it is the part that strangles the most. Replacing it is the only way to go after power, and only with a remap. Without a remap it is sound and a little mass off, not horsepower. The 200-cell sport catalytic converter retains exhaust after-treatment; the 100-cell version and the catalyst-free variant do not.
