Which valved exhaust for the Golf 7.5 GTI (Mk7.5)?
The Rog system for the Volkswagen Golf 7.5 GTI (2017-2019) is a valved cat-back exhaust in 304 stainless steel or titanium, built to your VIN for the 245 hp EA888 2.0 TSI of the GTI Performance, in both three- and five-door form. It bolts on without welding, keeps the Golf quiet with the valves closed and, with them open, gives it the voice its engine never had from the factory.
Sound, options and fitting in detail: our Golf 7.5 GTI guide.
The facelifted Golf 7.5 GTI, from 2017 to 2019, is built around the 2.0 TSI EA888 in its 245 hp and 370 Nm form, that of the GTI Performance. A 2015 GTI predates the facelift: the page therefore covers 2017 to 2019. The Golf 7 and 7.5 R, the Golf 8 GTI and the Golf 8 R have their own system.
One of the largest tuning communities in the world has grown up around this engine, and yet its factory sound is tuned for discretion: the character is in the engine, not in the factory exhaust. With the valves open, our valved cat-back brings the two level, with a full tone and clear crackles on the overrun; with the valves closed, the GTI goes back to being the everyday hatchback.
An important point: this system ends in four round exits, which require a suitable rear diffuser, whereas the standard GTI has only two. Apart from the diffuser, installation remains simple: clamps, gaskets, no welding, and about two hours in the workshop. The factory valve control is retained if the car has it, otherwise the Rog remote, with its box in the boot, takes care of it.
Sold under the name “Manifold”, the GTI’s option is actually a downpipe, with its catalytic converter. For a GTI that also takes you to the office, the 200-cell version is the most sensible, with emissions control maintained; the 100-cell one is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is reserved for track use. Fitted on its own, without a modified map, it leaves the GTI at 245 hp. 304 stainless steel takes winter salt in its stride; titanium, around 40% lighter, is finished in brushed, gold or purple.

Questions about the Volkswagen Golf 7.5 GTI 2.0 TSI exhaust.
Do I need to change the diffuser on my Golf 7.5 GTI?
Yes: the system exits through four round tips, and a suitable diffuser is required, as the standard GTI only has two outlets. Plan for it before fitting.
Is my pre-facelift Golf 7 GTI compatible?
The cat-back is listed for the 2017 to 2019 7.5 GTI; the downpipe also covers the Golf 7. For an older GTI, send us the VIN and we check before manufacturing.
Remapped Golf 7.5 GTI Performance: what figures can I expect?
The cat-back alone does not touch the ECU. You need the downpipe and a visit to an approved tuning centre to reach the published 330 hp and 460 Nm.
When it is time for vehicle inspection, what should I do with a modified Golf 7.5 GTI?
Come with the valves closed, for a sound close to stock, with the cat-back alone or the 200-cell downpipe, which keep emissions control. For the 100-cell one, the answer depends on the car and the rules in your country; in decat form, the GTI only goes out on track.
Golf 7.5 GTI three-door or five-door: is the system the same?
Yes. The three-door and the five-door take the same Rog system: same chassis, same 2.0 TSI, same clamp-and-gasket fitting. Your VIN is only used to confirm the version and model year before manufacturing.
Volkswagen Golf 7.5 GTI 2.0 TSI: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
Volkswagen Golf 7.5 GTI 2.0 TSI: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
