Which valved exhaust for the Golf 8 GTI and Golf 8.5 GTI (Mk8)?
The Rog system for the Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI is a valved cat-back exhaust in 304 stainless steel or titanium, built to your VIN for the 245 hp EA888, or 265 hp on the Golf 8.5 since 2024. The engine is lively but the factory system keeps it quiet: valves open, the GTI regains a sporty signature; valves closed, its versatility stays intact.
Sound, options and fitting in detail: our Golf 8 GTI guide.
On the Golf 8 GTI, the 2.0 TSI EA888 keeps 245 hp and 370 Nm, then moves to 265 hp, torque unchanged, on the 2024 Golf 8.5; it now comes with a petrol particulate filter, hence the GPF or OPF label associated with this version. Our page covers it from 2021 onwards, not 2020. Its big sister, the Golf 8 R, and the previous generations have separate pages.
This engine is still lively, but the factory exhaust was designed so that it stays silent. With the valves open, our valved cat-back gives it back a full, sporty signature, with an assertive presence under load and crackles on the overrun; with the valves closed, the Golf’s versatility is intact, on the commute as well as on the motorway to your holidays.
The “Manifold” option on the page replaces the GTI’s downpipe, the first part after the turbo, which carries the catalytic converter. As the GTI is often used every day, the 200-cell version, which keeps emissions control, is the right one; the 100-cell is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat variant is reserved for track use. As long as Volkswagen’s map stays in place, power does not change.
Fitting without welding, with clamps and gaskets, in about two hours, with one round exit on each side. Factory valves present: the system takes over their control; otherwise, the two-button Rog remote. 304 stainless steel takes winter in its stride; titanium, around 40% lighter for the same design, brings a clearer note and three finishes.

Questions about the Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI 2.0 TSI GPF/OPF exhaust.
What about the Golf 8 GTI Clubsport?
Only the GTI built since 2021 is covered, with 245 hp and then 265 hp on the 2024 Golf 8.5. For a Clubsport or a 2020 car, send us the VIN before ordering: we check what matches.
What figures for a Golf 8 GTI taken to Stage 2?
The cat-back alone does not require an ECU remap. The downpipe and a suitable map at an approved tuning centre take this 2.0 TSI to the published 350 hp and 500 Nm.
Golf 8 GTI with valves and the vehicle inspection: what should I remember?
With the valves closed, the GTI regains its factory discretion. Keep the cat-back alone or the 200-cell downpipe, and the catalytic converters carry on working. For the 100-cell, everything depends on the vehicle and your country’s rules, and the decat version confines the Golf to the circuit.
How many days before I can drive my Golf 8 GTI with its new system?
Twenty working days between confirmation and delivery, the time it takes to manufacture the exhaust to your VIN; delivery is free. Then allow about two hours for fitting.
Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI 2.0 TSI GPF/OPF: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI 2.0 TSI GPF/OPF: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
