Which valved exhaust for a BMW 325i or 330i E90, E91, E92 or E93?
The Rog system for the BMW 325i and 330i N52 is a valved cat-back exhaust for the E90 saloon, E91 Touring, E92 coupé and E93 convertible, built to your VIN in 304 stainless steel or titanium. The naturally aspirated 218 to 258 hp six-cylinder has no turbo to filter its song: valves open, the system lets it climb to the redline, and closed, it settles back to a purr close to stock.
Sound, options and fitting in detail: our BMW 325i / 330i E90 guide.
E90 saloon, E91 Touring, E92 coupé or E93 convertible: the 2005 to 2007 325i and 330i are among the last 3 Series with a naturally aspirated inline-six. The N52 combines a magnesium and aluminium block, Valvetronic variable valve lift and double variable camshaft timing. The 325i gets 218 hp and 250 Nm from it, the 330i 258 hp and 300 Nm; the turbocharged 335i models have their own pages.
With no turbine to filter the sound, everything the N52 produces goes through the exhaust: a hushed purr at idle, then a round song that grows sharper towards the red line. The factory exhaust flattens it, to the point that the 3 Series seems to change gear on mute. With our valved cat-back, that song returns without turning into a racket as soon as the valves open; closed again, they keep the saloon or the Touring discreet every day.
This valved cat-back is built to your VIN and fixed with clamps and gaskets, no welding, in about two hours. The valves follow the factory control if your 3 Series has one, otherwise the two-button Rog remote.
On this naturally aspirated engine, the “Manifold” option replaces the front section, which the guide describes as the pipes placed just after the manifolds, with the original catalytic converter; with an ECU remap, the gain is real but modest, 3 to 8%. As a saloon or Touring used by a family, the 3 Series keeps its emissions control with the 200-cell variant; the 100-cell one is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is reserved for track use. 304 stainless steel suits a car that faces winters, titanium, around 40% lighter, those who want a brushed, gold or purple finish.

Questions about the BMW 325i / 330i N52 E90 / E91 / E92 / E93 exhaust.
Does the 330i E93 convertible fall within this page?
Yes. The E93 convertible takes the same Rog system as the E90 saloon, the E91 Touring and the E92 coupé, with the same clamp-and-gasket fitting. Your VIN is only used to confirm the engine and model year before manufacturing.
Does a 325i N52 really benefit from an ECU remap?
On a naturally aspirated engine, the map refines injection and response more than it adds horsepower: for the 218 hp 325i, the page publishes 250 hp and 294 Nm at Stage 2, and the cat-back alone works without it.
When it is time for vehicle inspection, how should I present a modified 325i or 330i?
With the valves closed, the 325i or 330i presents with a voice close to stock; the standard front section or the 200-cell catalysed one keeps the gases treated, the 100-cell is accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules, and the decat version is reserved for track use.
Is there any point in replacing the front section of an N52?
On a naturally aspirated six-cylinder, the geometry of the pipes affects cylinder filling at high revs, with a modest gain of 3 to 8% once the car is remapped; without an ECU remap, it mainly changes the voice.
Will an E91 Touring loaded for the holidays drone?
No: with the valves closed, the gases run through the cruising silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed, even on a long family journey.
BMW 325i / 330i N52 E90 / E91 / E92 / E93: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
