The Subaru BRZ ZD8 2.4 exhaust in detail.
The BRZ ZD8 is a driving school: rear-wheel drive, a centre of gravity close to the ground thanks to the flat engine, a universally praised balance. Its 2.4-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder, 235 hp and 250 Nm, is deliberately modest in power, which makes the sound all the more important, and the factory exhaust is utterly discreet.
No turbo here: the sound comes from the climb through the revs. With the valves open, the Rog valved cat-back gives the boxer an assertive tone, an expressive climb to the red line and crisp crackles on the overrun; with the valves closed, the BRZ regains its factory discretion. The page covers the 2022 to 2025 ZD8; the BRZ ZC6 has its own, and your VIN is checked before manufacturing.
With clamps and gaskets, without welding, fitting takes about two hours, and the valves follow the factory control if the car has one, with the two-button Rog remote operating them otherwise.
No front section is offered on this page: the system connects behind the factory catalytic converters, with no ECU remap, and most of the benefit lies in sound and breathing, which is exactly the point on a car built for sensations. The ZD8’s black round tips finish a system in 304 stainless steel or titanium, the latter saving around 40% of the weight for the same design, one more argument on a coupé that lives by its lightness.

Questions about the Subaru BRZ ZD8 2.4 exhaust.
Does the BRZ ZD8 2.4 system fit a BRZ ZC6?
No, the first-generation BRZ ZC6 has its own page. This one follows the 2022 to 2025 ZD8 2.4; your coupé’s VIN is checked before manufacturing.
Does the BRZ ZD8 2.4 gain horsepower with this system?
Not noticeably: without a front part and without an ECU remap, the cat-back acts on the voice, the breathing and a little weight. On a 235 hp naturally aspirated flat-four, that is by design: the BRZ is all about sensations.
A modified BRZ ZD8: does it need preparing before the vehicle inspection?
Just close the valves. The original catalytic converters stay in place, as this page offers no front section, and the coupé regains its stock discretion.
Do the BRZ ZD8’s valves let you drive discreetly?
Yes, when closed they give the coupé back its factory discretion, with no drone on the motorway. You open them on winding roads, via the factory control or the Rog remote.
