What Akrapovič really offers for the Golf 7 R, and what changes with a Rog system made from your R's VIN.

The Golf 7 R Akrapovič, a Volkswagen option.

On 31 July 2017, Volkswagen presented a titanium "Performance" system for the three- and five-door Golf R, developed with Akrapovič and announced as 7 kg lighter than the standard system. It was ordered with the car, from the manufacturer.

As of 6 November 2026, Akrapovič's aftermarket catalogue lists only one part for the 2017 to 2019 Golf R: a stainless steel downpipe with link pipe and 200-cell catalytic converter, which the brand states is not compatible with cars fitted with a particulate filter. No silencer and no complete system are listed for the R.

Akrapovič publishes no prices on its official website. The Volkswagen option was priced on the manufacturer's price list, when the car was bought, and the catalogue downpipe is priced separately. Without a current official price, we quote none.

The EA888 sound: your choice.

With 300 to 310 hp depending on the version, the Golf 7 R's 2.0 TSI EA888 has no shortage of character, but its original system is tuned for discretion. The Rog system lets you choose:

• the character, at the same price: straight pipe for the raw sound of the 2.0 TSI, or resonator for a rounder, slightly softer voice;
• the material: 304 stainless steel, or titanium about 40% lighter for the same design (+ €500), in a brushed, gold or purple finish;

• the control, at the same price: your original valves, refitted on the system and still controlled by the drive modes, or Rog valves already fitted, with their remote;
• the front section, as an option: 200-cell or 100-cell catalysed downpipe (+ €650); the decat version (+ €420) is for track use only.

Valves open, the R gains a full tone, real presence under load and crisp crackles on lift-off. Valves closed, it keeps a calm cruise at 130 km/h, without drone. Four round tailpipes finish the system, which fits without welding or cutting, with clamps and gaskets, in about two hours at the garage of your choice.
