Sports exhaust in Latvia: tehniskā apskate and the CSDD noise limit.
Updated 30 October 2026.
A Rog valved exhaust gives you the sound you choose, and a car that stays discreet when it matters. Valves open, the sound you chose; valves closed, a sound very close to stock, day to day and at the tehniskā apskate, the CSDD roadworthiness test. A cat-back keeps your factory catalytic converter, so emissions control stays exactly as it was: in Latvia, it is the configuration we recommend. Each system is built from your VIN, from a 3D scan of the chassis and of the original system, and bolts onto the original mounting points with no welding. Free technical documentation for your paperwork, a 3-year warranty and free delivery.
What you get with Rog.
- The sound you choose: you configure your system (design, material, catalytic converter, valve control), and you open the valves whenever you like, on a clear road or on track.
- A discreet car when it matters: valves closed, the sound stays very close to stock, in your street and at the tehniskā apskate.
- A system made for your car: built from your VIN, from a 3D scan of the chassis and of the original system, checked before production; it bolts onto the original mounting points with no welding, at the garage of your choice.
- Emissions control kept: a cat-back keeps your factory catalytic converter and sensors, the configuration we recommend in Latvia; the catless version is for track use only.
- Valves controlled by your car's original drive modes or by the Rog remote.
- The technical documentation for your system, free, on request, for the tehniskā apskate or for your questions to CSDD.
- 20 working days to build and deliver, free delivery, 3-year warranty.

At the tehniskā apskate: how it works.
- Noise is judged by ear first: the visual check includes listening to the car, and a measurement is taken only when increased noise is suspected. Valves closed, your car goes in sounding very close to stock.
- Your limit is specific to your car: the stationary noise level set by its manufacturer, or 85 dB(A) for a car when that level is not known (Cabinet Regulation No. 295, annex 1, item 8.1.1). If your registration certificate shows it (field U.1), see our article on field U.1.
- Emissions equipment (item 8.2.1.1): the emission control equipment fitted by the manufacturer must be present, complete and not modified. A cat-back leaves it untouched. A front section, with our 200-cell sports catalytic converter, replaces the factory catalytic converter: before choosing one, ask CSDD how it will be assessed.
- Your papers: your reģistrācijas apliecība (vehicle registration certificate) and your driving licence or an identity document; the vehicle operation tax must be paid. Your VIN is printed on the certificate, in field E: it is all we need to build your system.
- How often: a car never registered before has its first test no later than 36 months after first registration in Latvia, then after 24, 24 and 24 months, then every year. A car previously registered abroad is tested within five days of its Latvian registration, then every year.
The rules, in short.
Rog exhausts carry no type approval: that is a choice, because a system with type approval sounds almost like the original one, and the valves give you both. Under item 6.1.2 of Cabinet Regulation No. 295, the exhaust system must allow a normal emissions check: its pipes and silencers must not be removed, damaged or modified (pārveidotas), and the probe must go into the tailpipe. A removed, damaged or modified pipe or silencer is rated 2. A Rog system is a new, complete system built for your car and fitted on the original mounting points; how a replacement system is assessed is the CSDD inspector's call, so ask your test station before fitting.
CSDD calls a pārbūve any change to a vehicle's construction, including fitting, changing, replacing or removing units, systems or parts, that changes the vehicle's registered technical data or design parameters. A pārbūve needs a technical assessment (tehniskā ekspertīze), which any test station can carry out, and must be registered within five days; at the tehniskā apskate, a permitted rebuild that has not been formalised is rated 2. Whether your configuration changes any registered data is a question to put to CSDD before fitting, with the technical documentation we send you free of charge: the CSDD inspector decides. On the road, valves closed in town, your car stays very close to stock, and you open them when you choose; to see where noise cameras are already in use in Europe, see our table of noise cameras in Europe.

Frequently asked questions.
Valves closed, is my car discreet?
Yes: valves closed, the sound stays very close to stock, day to day and at the tehniskā apskate, and you open the valves when you choose. At the tehniskā apskate, the CSDD inspector decides.
What is the noise limit for my car?
The stationary noise level set by the manufacturer; when that level is not known, 85 dB(A) for a car. It is measured only when increased noise is suspected, and the CSDD inspector decides.
Will the system fit my car?
Yes: it is built from your VIN, from a 3D scan of the chassis and of the original system, and checked before production. It bolts onto the original mounting points with no welding, at the garage of your choice.
What happens to my catalytic converter?
With a cat-back, it stays in place, with its sensors: in Latvia, it is the configuration we recommend. The catless version is for track use only. At the tehniskā apskate, the CSDD inspector decides.
Does Rog provide documents?
Yes: on request, we send you the technical documentation for your system free of charge, describing your configuration, for the tehniskā apskate or for your questions to CSDD about a pārbūve. The CSDD inspector decides.
