The Nissan 370Z Z34 V6 3.7 exhaust in detail.

The 370Z’s VQ37VHR belongs to the VQ lineage, long cited among the best engines in the world: a naturally aspirated 3.7-litre V6, 328 hp and 363 Nm, that revs high with a rasping tone that has become a cult favourite in the Japanese scene. From the factory, it goes through a 26.8 kg exhaust that delivers only a fraction of this character.

With the valves open, the Rog valved cat-back delivers the rest: the rasping, present VQ tone, the furious climb, the crackles on the overrun. With the valves closed, the Z becomes discreet again for everyday journeys. The page is for the 2019 370Z Z34 Roadster, excluding the Nismo, which has its own page; your VIN is checked before manufacturing.

About two hours are enough to install the system under the Z, with clamps and gaskets, no welding; the valves follow their factory control if the car has it, otherwise the Rog remote, whose box fits in the boot.

Here the “Manifold” option covers long-tube manifolds that replace the original front section and its primary catalytic converters. On this naturally aspirated V6, their geometry matters, and an ECU remap, recommended with them, extracts a real but modest gain of around 3 to 8%; also allow for lambda sensor extensions. Before choosing a 200-cell or 100-cell version, tell us about your use: we will explain what each configuration keeps in terms of emissions control, and the decat version is reserved for track use. At the end of the system, the 370Z’s black round tips cap 304 stainless steel or titanium, the latter around 40% lighter and finished in brushed, chrome, gold or purple.

Questions about the Nissan 370Z Z34 V6 3.7 Roadster exhaust.

370Z Z34 standard or Nismo: how do I know which system to order?

The more powerful Nismo has its own page and its own system; this one follows the 2019 370Z Z34 Roadster. Your Roadster’s VIN, requested with the order, confirms the version before manufacturing.

Does the 370Z’s VQ37VHR need an ECU remap with the manifolds?

With the cat-back alone, the factory map is enough; with the long-tube manifolds, an ECU remap is recommended: it recalibrates the engine management and turns the better cylinder filling into a modest gain of around 3 to 8% on this naturally aspirated V6.

Which configuration should I present at vehicle inspection on a 370Z Z34?

The cat-back alone, valves closed: the factory catalytic converters stay in place and the VQ returns to a stock voice. With the long-tube manifolds, the situation depends on the version chosen, the vehicle and your country’s rules; talk to us before ordering, the decat version being reserved for the track.

What does the cat-back change on the 370Z Z34 compared with the 26.8 kg factory system?

It replaces the factory exhaust, which our data puts at 26.8 kg, with a valved cat-back built to your VIN, in 304 stainless steel or titanium, the latter around 40% lighter than stainless steel for the same design. The VQ regains its voice with the valves open, without losing any of its discretion with the valves closed.

Nissan 370Z Z34 V6 3.7 Roadster: Does a valved exhaust system drone?

No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
