Audi A4 B8 V6: a naturally aspirated six-cylinder waiting to be woken up, the exhaust system guide
Behind its sensible saloon looks, the Audi A4 B8 3.2 FSI hides a 265 hp naturally aspirated V6 that loves to rev. Built from 2007 to 2012, it belongs to a species that has become rare: the German cruiser without a turbo. Yet its factory exhaust, designed for silence, smooths out everything that makes this engine so endearing. This guide takes you through choosing your ROG exhaust, from material to tips.

The 3.2 FSI: a naturally aspirated direct-injection V6 at the heart of the A4 B8
The 3.2 FSI is a 3.2-litre V6 without forced induction, fed by direct petrol injection, as its name indicates. In the A4 B8, it produces 265 hp and 330 Nm. No brutal turbo shove here: the power builds progressively and in a linear way, and the V6 gives its best in the upper half of the rev counter. An engine with character, housed in a saloon designed for comfort.
On a naturally aspirated engine, the exhaust system plays two roles: the engine's breathing and what you hear of it from behind the wheel. The A4's factory exhaust puts discretion first, to the point of making the climb through the revs almost anonymous. The ROG valved exhaust replaces it and lets you choose: with the valves open, the V6 finds its voice across the whole rev range; with the valves closed, the A4 remains the hushed saloon you know. No work on the engine or the ECU is required.
What makes up the exhaust on your Audi A4 B8 V6
Here is what the ROG exhaust replaces, and where the sound is shaped.
The cat-back is the complete exhaust system
It is everything you can see under the chassis of your Audi A4 B8 V6, right through to the tips: pipes, silencer, valves. This is where our research and development is focused, and it is what shapes the sound. It fits without touching the engine or the ECU.
The figures for your Audi A4 B8 V6
On a modern car, an exhaust system first changes the voice, the breathing and the weight at the rear. Power, on the other hand, comes from an ECU remap.
Power
Torque
Published factory and Stage 2 figures.
Our exhaust systems work perfectly with or without an ECU remap. On your Audi A4 B8 V6, however, we recommend having one done at an approved tuning centre: that is what lets the engine reach its full potential.
On a naturally aspirated V6 like the 3.2 FSI, a Stage 2 remap does not transform the spec sheet: it mainly refines cylinder filling and throttle response, for modest gains. The ROG exhaust is the logical complement, since it lets you hear what the engine is already doing.
Configuring your exhaust, step by step
3 choices, in the same order as the product page configurator.
-
Step 1 of 3: Material: stainless steel or titanium
For your Audi A4 B8 V6, the exhaust costs €2,190 in stainless steel and €2,690 in titanium.
304 stainless steel
2 190 €
- Weight
- Baseline
- Sound
- Full and rounded
The benchmark for high-end exhausts: tough, corrosion-proof, with a full, rounded sound. The choice of most of our customers.
Titanium
2 690 €
- Weight
- Around 40% lighter
- Sound
- Metallic, crystal-clear
Around 40% lighter than stainless steel for the same design, with a more metallic sound that turns crystal-clear at high revs. Its finish ranges from brushed to blued tints.
Over time, both hold up: 304 stainless steel stands up to winter salt and damp, and titanium does not rust. Stainless steel or titanium: what really changes.
-
Step 2 of 3: Valves: ROG remote or factory control
Two ways to control the valves on your Audi A4 B8 V6.
ROG remote

A small control unit fits in the boot. Two buttons, open and closed: the valves respond at any moment, whatever the drive mode. Simple to fit, and we stay on hand throughout the installation.
Factory control
- Only for vehicles fitted with factory valves
- Controlled by the drive modes
If your vehicle is fitted with factory valves, the exhaust keeps their existing control. The drive modes decide, just as they did from the factory, with no added electronics.
On the motorway, with the valves closed, the gases pass through the silencer, designed for cruising: no drone at a steady speed. You open up when you feel like it, not when the motorway decides for you. More about exhaust drone.
-
Step 3 of 3: Tips: the visual signature
Match the tips to the style of your Audi A4 B8 V6, understated or bold. A particular finish in mind? Send us a photo and we will look at it together.
- Stainless steel
- Black
- Carbon
- Blued titanium

The ROG sound signature on the 3.2 FSI V6
A naturally aspirated V6 has a gruffer, more metallic voice than a four-cylinder, with a steady climb through the revs that is a pleasure to listen to. On the A4 B8, the factory exhaust leaves only a distant drone: the engine's character is there, but it stays hidden behind the silencers.
With the valves open, the ROG exhaust lets that voice through, deep at idle, then clearer and clearer as the V6 climbs through the revs. Every gear becomes a small crescendo you want to stretch out. With the valves closed, you get back a quiet A4 for daily journeys and long motorway stints.

Audi A4 B8 V6: your questions
How much power does an exhaust system add to the Audi A4 B8 V6?
From the factory, the Audi A4 B8 V6 produces 265 hp and 330 Nm. An exhaust system on its own mainly changes the sound, the breathing and the weight; power is gained with an ECU remap. With a Stage 2 build, the published figures reach 289 hp and 368 Nm.
Stainless steel or titanium: which material for the Audi A4 B8 V6?
For the Audi A4 B8 V6, the ROG exhaust costs €2,190 in stainless steel and €2,690 in titanium. 304 stainless steel is tough, rounded in tone and the most popular choice; titanium is around 40% lighter for the same design, with a more metallic sound at high revs.
Is the ROG exhaust on the Audi A4 B8 V6 loud all the time?
No. With the valves closed, the gases pass through the silencer and the sound stays comfortable. With the valves open, the engine speaks freely. You switch from one to the other at any moment, with the ROG remote or the factory control if your vehicle has it.
Does the Audi A4 B8 V6 pass the French MOT with a ROG exhaust?
The ROG exhaust replaces the rear part of the exhaust, without touching the engine or the ECU. Present the car with the valves closed: it is the most discreet setting.
How is the ROG exhaust fitted to the Audi A4 B8 V6?
No welding or cutting, using clamps and gaskets. Allow two hours on average for a well-equipped mechanic. The exhaust is built for your VIN, which guarantees compatibility before it ships.
What does a ROG exhaust for the Audi A4 B8 V6 cost, and how long does it take?
From €2,190 to €2,690 depending on the configuration. Allow 20 working days from order confirmation to delivery. Free delivery in Europe and a 3-year warranty.
