Audi RS3 8V 2.5 TFSI Valved Exhaust (2016-2020)

The Audi RS3 8V exhaust in detail.

Two power outputs share this page: the pre-facelift RS3 8V, at 367 hp and 465 Nm, then the facelifted version raised to 400 hp and 480 Nm. From 2016 to 2020, both use the 2.5 TFSI, a turbocharged inline-five. Our supplier does not distinguish between body style or phase, so your VIN settles the question before manufacturing. The RS3 8Y that succeeded it has its own page.

This engine owes its reputation to a cadence you can recognise with your eyes closed: the 1-2-4-5-3 firing order gives an odd rhythm, between rumble and howl, that recalls Audi’s quattro rally cars. Filters and silencers imposed by regulations erase most of it. With the valves open, this valved cat-back gives the five-cylinder back its gust under acceleration and its rich crackles; with the valves closed, the hatchback regains almost well-behaved manners.

The page also sells the “Manifold” option, which on this engine corresponds to the downpipe: it is the part that carries the catalytic converter at the turbo outlet. If the RS3 stays registered and driven on public roads, the 200-cell catalysed downpipe is the one that keeps emissions control in place; the 100-cell is accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules, while the decat version is reserved for track use and track days. On its own, without a revised map, this part does not change the RS3’s power: it adds sound and saves a little weight.

No welding to install it: clamps, gaskets, about two hours, and round tailpipes that replace the factory ones. The Audi drive modes control the valves if the car has them from the factory, otherwise the Rog remote takes over. As for materials, 304 stainless steel serves the five-cylinder’s full voice, and titanium, around 40% lighter, adds a metallic sparkle, in brushed, chrome, gold or purple.

Questions about the Audi RS3 8V 2.5 TFSI exhaust.

367 hp or 400 hp RS3 8V: is the system the same?

The page covers both phases, from 2016 to 2020. Our supplier does not detail what distinguishes them underneath: we therefore check your VIN before starting manufacturing, and you are told if any point needs clarifying.

400 hp RS3 8V: what does a published Stage 2 deliver?

Nothing to remap for the cat-back alone, which leaves the 2.5 TFSI as Audi tuned it. The figure changes with the downpipe and a dedicated map at an approved tuner: 494 hp and 630 Nm published for the facelifted version. A sports catalytic converter without an ECU remap can light the engine warning lamp.

Vehicle inspection coming up: which RS3 8V configuration should be presented?

Present it with the valves closed: the five-cylinder returns close to its factory level. The ideal configuration remains the cat-back alone or combined with the 200-cell downpipe, which leave emissions control untouched. With a 100-cell, the answer varies depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules; in decat form, the RS3 is reserved for track use.

Does the RS3’s five-cylinder drone on the motorway?

With the valves closed, the gases flow through the silencer, designed for cruising: the RS3 stays composed at a steady speed. You open them when you decide, with the remote or through the drive modes, and the gust returns the moment you accelerate.

Audi RS3 8V: unleashing the five-cylinder, the complete exhaust system guide

The RS3 8V established the modern five-cylinder in the compact class, with a factory sound that was already decent on early model years, then increasingly muffled as emissions standards tightened. The acoustic potential of the 2.5 TFSI remains immense, and...
