BMW M2 G87 Valved Exhaust (2023)
Valves
Operated by remote control, paired in our workshop.
Estimated at 0.50 m from the outlet, 45°, 2,000 rpm with a warm engine. Allow ± 2 dB depending on the engine and measuring point. A 3 dB difference is audible in a direct comparison; 10 dB sounds roughly twice as loud.

The BMW M2 G87 exhaust in detail.
The M2 G87 is the last compact rear-wheel-drive BMW M offered with a manual gearbox. Under its bonnet sits the M3’s S58, detuned to 460 hp and 550 Nm, with its forged crankshaft and two turbos. This page covers the 2023 model year; the M2 Competition F87 and M3 G80 have their own pages, and your VIN is used to confirm the system before manufacturing.
Every review pointed it out: to the ear, the G87 disappoints. Its 22.3 kg factory exhaust, designed for Euro 6d standards with a particulate filter and a massive silencer, makes it quieter at start-up than a diesel hatchback. This valved cat-back gives it real presence, and you choose the tone: Standard for the raw twin-turbo without a resonator, Equal Length for a higher-pitched, smoother note, Equal Length + Z-pipe for a very high, exotic register.
With the valves closed, the M2 stays close to its factory sound; open, it expresses itself fully. Weld-free fitting, with clamps and gaskets, in about two hours; controlled by the factory control or by the Rog remote, whose box sits in the boot.
The “Manifold” option on the page sells the S58’s downpipe, which carries the catalytic converter; without a suitable map, it only adds voice and a little lightness. On an M2 driven on the open road, the 200-cell keeps the exhaust gas treatment required by Euro 6d; the 100-cell is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is reserved for track use. It remains to decide between full, round 304 stainless steel and titanium around 40% lighter, in brushed, chrome, gold or purple, which lightens the rear of an already very sharp compact.

Questions about the BMW M2 G87 exhaust.
Can a newer 480 hp M2 G87 take this exhaust?
The page is set up for the 460 hp 2023 model year; for a more recent G87, notably the 480 hp version, send the VIN before ordering, and the workshop checks compatibility before manufacturing.
Why does the M2 G87 gain so much at Stage 2?
Because its S58 is deliberately detuned compared with the M3: with a downpipe and an ECU remap at an approved tuner, the figures published for the G87 reach 700 hp and 900 Nm, whereas the cat-back alone requires no change to the ECU.
Can a modified M2 G87 pass the vehicle inspection with peace of mind?
It arrives discreetly, valves closed and voice close to stock, with a catalytic converter retained behind the cat-back alone or the 200-cell downpipe; the 100-cell is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is reserved for track use, well away from testing centres.
Which design gives the M2 G87 the best sound?
Standard if you like the rough grain of the twin-turbo; Equal Length for a higher, smoother note that changes the car’s identity; Equal Length + Z-pipe for the highest-pitched and most exotic register.
Does titanium noticeably lighten the rear of the G87?
Yes: against a factory system listed at 22.3 kg on the page, our titanium cat-back weighs around 40% less than the same design in stainless steel, a welcome saving over the rear axle of such a lively rear-wheel-drive car.
