Which is the best exhaust brand for your car? Our top 10
Updated: 1 October 2026.
For a sports car, the best exhaust brand is the one that builds the exhaust system for your car and lets you choose its sound: that is what puts Rog at the top of our ranking. Behind it, Akrapovic, Milltek, Supersprint, Remus, Eisenmann, iPE, Capristo, Fi Exhaust and Armytrix each have real strengths, which we detail along with what they do not offer.
Our criteria.
We selected the brands most in demand in France for sports cars, and judged them on five points:
- The sound: can you choose it, and adjust it on the move?
- Manufacturing: is the exhaust system made for your car, or taken from stock?
- The warranty: how long it lasts, and what it excludes.
- The full price: mandatory options, tips sold separately, installation.
- Availability in France: lead time, resellers, after-sales service.
On Trustpilot, these brands have very few reviews (3 for Akrapovic, 12 for Milltek, 2 for Remus, none for Supersprint as of 30/09/2026). For the customers' voice, we therefore mainly read owners' forums, citing the author and the date.
The ranking at a glance.
| Rank | Brand | Brand's country | Strengths | Made to measure | Sound choice | Warranty | Indicative price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Rog | France | exhaust system made for your car, chosen sound, full configuration | yes, from your VIN | valves, stainless steel or titanium, front section; Standard, Equal Length or Equal Length + Z-pipe on BMW M six-cylinders | 3 years, parts and workmanship | from €2,190 depending on the model |
| 2 | Akrapovic | Slovenia | reputation, titanium, finish, availability | no, catalogue part number | valves, one design per model | 24 months | from around €6,500 (M3 G80 titanium slip-on, tips extra) |
| 3 | Milltek | United Kingdom | wide range, tip finishes, lifetime warranty on non-valved systems | no | resonated or non-resonated, set at purchase | lifetime without valves; 2 years with valves | from around €3,400 (M3 G80 GPF-back) |
| 4 | Supersprint | Italy | handmade since 1955, highly modular | no, parts to combine | resonated, non-resonated, X-pipe, Race, valves | 36 months | from around €4,200 (M3 G80 valved silencer) |

| 9 | Fi Exhaust | Taiwan | large supercar catalogue, finishes | no | valves, one design | not detailed on the product page consulted | from around €6,700 (M4 G82, excluding the mandatory module) |
| 10 | Armytrix | Taiwan | app control, tip finishes | no | valves, one design | 12 months | from around €5,000 (M4 G82 cat-back) |
Prices noted at the end of September 2026 on the brand's website or at a French reseller, rounded down to the nearest hundred, varying by reseller and promotions; sources at the end of the article. A “silencer”, a “GPF-back” and an “exhaust system” do not replace the same parts: always compare what is included.
1. Rog: the sound you choose, the exhaust system made for your car.
Rog does not sell a part number taken from stock. Every valved exhaust system is made after the order, from your car's VIN, for 418 models from 28 brands. Above all, you choose the sound before it is made.
The design. On BMW M six-cylinders (M2 Competition F87, M2 G87, M3 F80 and M4 F82, M3 G80 and M4 G82, X3 M and X4 M), three designs are available:
- Standard: the factory routing, the raw texture of the twin-turbo;
- Equal Length: two pipes of the same length, the pulses synchronise and the note rises, smoother;
- Equal Length + Z-pipe: a Z-shaped crossing of the flows on top, for a higher-pitched, rounder, exotic sound.
All three are compared on the BMW Equal Length and Z-pipe page; the technical detail is in Z-pipe: what this pipe changes.
The configuration. On each product page, you set:
- the material: 304 stainless steel with a full sound, or titanium, around 40% lighter for the same design, in a brushed, chrome, gold or purple finish;
- the valves: controlled by the original drive modes, or by the Rog remote;
- the front section, when it really makes a difference on your engine: 200-cell or 100-cell sports catalytic converter (see the 200-cell catalytic converter); the decat version is for track use only;
- the intensity: each product page places each configuration on a scale from 0 to 10, with the valves open.
With the valves closed, the car stays close to its original sound. With the valves open, you hear the configuration you chose.
Service. 3-year warranty on parts and workmanship, free delivery in Europe, 20 working days between approval and delivery, installation without welding on the relevant models. Rog is a French brand: our team answers you by email, before and after your order.
Why first. Because it is the only brand in this ranking that combines manufacturing from your VIN, a choice of sound design, titanium in every finish and a 3-year warranty, at a displayed price with no mandatory options. A few examples: BMW M3 G80 and M4 G82, BMW M2 G87, Audi RS3 8Y, Porsche 911 GT3 992, Volkswagen Golf 8 R, Mercedes-AMG A45 S.
The only compromise: an exhaust system made for you is never in stock. Allow 20 working days.
2. Akrapovic: the safe choice.
Akrapovic, founded in 1991 in Slovenia, is the best-known brand in the ranking. It is the safe choice when you do not want the hassle of doing your own research: a name everyone recognises, an in-house titanium foundry since 2009, very refined finishes and more than a hundred world titles in racing, mostly in motorcycling, according to the brand.
What owners say: on the Motorsport-Passion forum, one member finds the system “usable every day, no unpleasant resonance” (M3 E92, 27/08/2015), another thinks it is “the best sound on our M4s” (24/09/2020). Another real strength: availability. The titanium slip-on for the M3 G80 was listed as in stock at a French reseller, delivered in 1 to 4 working days.
What it does not do: the exhaust system is the same for every car of the model, with no choice of design. On the M3 G80, the titanium slip-on starts at around €6,500 at French resellers, and the carbon tips are ordered separately. The reseller points out that the slip-on's ECE type-approval no longer applies if downpipes are added. The warranty is 24 months, excluding labour and transport, according to the terms published by one of the brand's resellers.
3. Milltek: the lifetime warranty on non-valved systems.
Milltek, a British company registered in 1983, covers Audi, Volkswagen and BMW among others. Its great strength is the warranty: lifetime on non-valved systems. Valved parts, downpipes and catalytic converters are covered for 2 years or 80,000 km, for the original buyer who went through an authorised reseller.
What customers say: on Trustpilot (3.3 out of 5, 12 reviews), one customer in August 2026 praises quality, sound character and looks that are “second to none”; another, in June 2026, exceptional after-sales service. The range of tip finishes is wide: polished, black, titanium, blue titanium, carbon.
What it does not do: the sound is chosen once, at purchase. On the M3 G80, the GPF-back comes in a resonated or non-resonated version, from around €3,400 at French resellers, with no Equal Length or Equal Length + Z-pipe design and no front section in the same product. The system is a catalogue part number in 304L stainless steel.
4. Supersprint: the Italian craftsman and its combinations.
Supersprint has been handcrafting exhausts near Mantua since 1955. It is the most modular brand in the ranking: for the M3 G80, its website offers resonated or non-resonated pipes, an X-pipe, a Race or valved silencer, and downpipes with or without catalytic converters. Its 36-month warranty matches Rog's.
What owners say: on Motorsport-Passion, in 2013, M3 E36 owners praise the sound of the Race version “at high revs”, while keeping it mainly for weekends because of resonance between 1,500 and 3,000 rpm.
What it does not do: it is up to you to put together the right combination. On the M3 G80, expect from around €4,200 for the valved silencer alone, and around €6,800 for the valved J-pipe Touring set. Everything is in stainless steel, and the warranty excludes track use.
5. Remus: the big, accessible Austrian brand.
Remus, founded in 1990 in Bärnbach, claims 1,300 employees and more than 1,500 products. Its strengths: a huge range, affordable entry prices and parts sold separately, so you can upgrade step by step. On the Golf 8 R, the exhaust set starts at around €1,900 on the brand's French website, with a 24-month warranty and EC-certified tailpipes.
What it does not do: on the Golf 8 R, installation requires cutting the original exhaust system according to a French reseller, and the product was on pre-order on the brand's website. The sound is chosen between a Sport version and a Racing version, with no made-to-measure design. Detailed reviews in French are rare.
6. Eisenmann: the German workshop, Sport or Race.
Eisenmann has been handcrafting its exhaust systems in Hemmingen, near Stuttgart, since 1988. It is the brand in the ranking closest to made-to-measure: its systems are built to order, and the workshop offers special manufacturing for a car that is not in the catalogue. Each system comes in a Sport version, with EC type-approval, and a Race version, for competition only.
What owners say: on Motorsport-Passion, an M3 E9x owner recommends the Sport version for everyday use and long journeys (17/02/2009); another says he kept a Race version for only a month because of resonance (22/01/2019).
What it does not do: on the M3 G80, the valved silencer and its mid-pipe start at around €4,400 at a French reseller, with a lead time of around 8 weeks and cutting of the original exhaust system. The order cannot be cancelled or returned. The warranty is the 2-year statutory one.
7. iPE: high-pitched sound and titanium.
iPE, a Taiwanese brand created in 2010 from a business founded in 1998, highlights an “F1 sound”, high-pitched at high revs, and handmade exhaust systems in T304 stainless steel or grade 1 titanium. On its RS3 8V product page, the valves use the factory actuators.
What it does not do: the official website shows no prices (“contact sales”) and states a one-year warranty. Not every generation is covered: as of 30/09/2026, the website shows nothing for the Audi RS3 8Y. In France, the valved silencer for the 992 Carrera starts at around €4,100 at a French reseller, with a 4 to 5 week lead time, and the order can be neither cancelled nor returned. Detailed reviews in French are rare.
8. Capristo: supercar prestige.
Capristo was founded in 1990 by Antonio Capristo in Sundern, Germany. Its strengths: T309 stainless steel designed for very high temperatures, hand-bent and hand-welded pipes, a matching carbon range, and the title of official partner of Lamborghini Squadra Corse.
What it does not do: at a French reseller, expect from around €7,200, and more than €12,000 on some supercars. Items made to order take around 6 to 8 weeks according to Capristo. The warranty period is not specified on the pages consulted, and detailed user feedback in French remains rare.
9. Fi Exhaust: valves for supercars.
Fi Exhaust, founded in Taipei in 2012, covers a very large catalogue of supercars and sports saloons (Lamborghini, McLaren, Ferrari, Porsche, AMG, BMW M), with stainless steel, blue titanium, black, gold or carbon finishes. On a French reseller's M4 G82 product page, the basic configuration uses the factory valve control.
What it does not do: on a French reseller's M4 G82 product page, the cat-back starts at around €6,700, excluding an error-cancelling module listed as mandatory and sold as an option. The remote costs extra, the lead time is around 2 to 6 weeks, and the order can be neither cancelled, returned nor exchanged. The warranty is not detailed on the product page.
10. Armytrix: app-based control.
Armytrix, a Taiwanese brand created in 2009, offers valve control from a smartphone app or by remote control. Its tips come in carbon, matte black, blue, chrome or gold. On Motorsport-Passion, an M3 E92 owner talks about a “magnificent exhaust and finish” (23/03/2016), while noting that fitting is not entirely straightforward.
What it does not do: on the M4 G82, expect from around €5,000 for the cat-back at French resellers, with a 12-month warranty for the original buyer, shipping and customs costs paid by the customer. A single design, in stainless steel.
The brands we did not rank.
Scorpion, Ragazzon, Novitec and Grail also make sports exhausts. We left them out of this top list to keep it to ten brands, choosing those most easily found at French resellers for sports cars. Grail, for example, sells its system for the BMW M3 and M4 G8x in dollars on its North American store, made to order in 6 to 8 weeks.
How to choose, in three questions.
- Do you want to choose your sound? If so, look for controllable valves and, on a BMW M six-cylinder, an Equal Length or Equal Length + Z-pipe design. If not, a fixed system may be enough.
- Are you keeping the car? Look at the length of the warranty, but also at what it excludes: valved parts, track use, installation by a third party.
- What is the full price? Add the tips sold separately, the mandatory modules, the remote and installation. Two exhaust systems with the same displayed price can end up hundreds of euros apart.
Frequently asked questions.
What is the best exhaust brand for a sports car?
By our criteria, Rog: an exhaust system made from your VIN, sound chosen at configuration, 3-year warranty. If you simply want the best-known brand without looking any further, Akrapovic is the safe choice.
What is the best-known sports exhaust brand?
Akrapovic, for its reputation, its titanium and its racing record. Milltek and Remus also have very wide ranges.
Which exhaust brand offers the longest warranty?
Milltek, with a lifetime warranty on its non-valved systems (2 years for valved parts). Next come Rog, with 3 years on parts and workmanship, and Supersprint, with 36 months.
Can you choose the sound of your exhaust before buying it?
Yes, partly, with several brands (resonated or not, Sport or Race). At Rog, you choose the design, the material, the front section and the valve control, and each product page places the intensity on a scale from 0 to 10.
Does a sports exhaust pass the vehicle inspection?
It depends on the exhaust system and its configuration. A valved exhaust system presented with the valves closed stays close to the original sound, and a decat front section is for track use only (see downpipe and vehicle inspection).
