Audi RS3 8Y Valved Exhaust (2023)
Valves
Operated by remote control, paired in our workshop.
Estimated at 0.50 m from the outlet, 45°, 2,000 rpm with a warm engine. Allow ± 2 dB depending on the engine and measuring point. A 3 dB difference is audible in a direct comparison; 10 dB sounds roughly twice as loud.
Configuration guide
Sound intensity with the valves open, on a scale of 0 to 10.
| Configuration | Intensity |
|---|---|
| Decat downpipe + ROG cat-back | 10/10 |
| 100-cell sports catalytic converter + ROG cat-back | 9/10 |
| 200-cell sports catalytic converter + ROG cat-back | 8/10 |
| ROG cat-back only, factory catalytic converter retained | 7/10 |

The Audi RS3 8Y exhaust in detail.
The RS3 8Y keeps the 2.5 TFSI, a turbocharged inline-five with 400 hp and 500 Nm, voted best engine in its class several times. This page covers the 2023 model year. Sportback or saloon, your RS3 is identified by its VIN when you order, and we confirm the system before building it.
The whole character of this engine lies in its 1-2-4-5-3 firing order, inherited from the rally quattros: a syncopated growl, half hoarse, half howling, that nothing else produces. The factory filters and silencers smother precisely the essential part. With the valves open, the valved Rog system sets it completely free, with a gust of sound under acceleration and rich crackles on the overrun. With the valves closed, the Audi becomes a civilised hatchback again, close to its original sound.
This is a cat-back: pipes, silencer, valves and round tips, from the downpipe to the tailpipes. It fits with clamps and gaskets, no welding, in about two hours. Two ways to control the valves: let the Audi drive modes decide, if the car has its factory valves, or use the Rog remote, which works whatever mode is selected.
On this five-cylinder, the “Manifold” option actually replaces the downpipe, the part that carries the catalytic converter at the turbo outlet and restricts the most after the silencer. With 200 cells, emissions control stays in place; with 100 cells, it is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country. Without an ECU remap, expect sound and a little weight saving, not power. Material: 304 stainless steel, or titanium around 40% lighter, from brushed to purple by way of chrome and gold.

Questions about the Audi RS3 8Y 2.5 TFSI exhaust.
Sportback or saloon: which RS3 8Y is covered?
This page is for the 2023 RS3 8Y 2.5 TFSI. Both body styles exist: give us your VIN, field (E) of your registration document (V5C in the UK) or at the base of the windscreen, and we confirm compatibility before any manufacturing.
Does the RS3 8Y need an ECU remap?
Not for the cat-back, which touches neither the engine nor the ECU. Yes if you want the downpipe to turn into horsepower: at Stage 2, the published figures for the RS3 8Y are 460 hp and 570 Nm. With a sport catalytic converter, the engine warning light may come on; an ECU remap or a diagnostic reset fixes it.
Is vehicle inspection a problem with an RS3 fitted with this system?
The cat-back alone and the 200-cell downpipe keep emissions control: that is the configuration to present for vehicle inspection, valves closed, with a sound close to stock. The 100-cell depends on the car and the rules where you live. In decat form, the RS3 is intended for the track.
Can I keep the Audi valve control?
Yes, if your RS3 has factory valves: the system takes over their control and the drive modes stay in charge, with no extra box. Would you rather decide yourself? The Rog remote opens and closes them in one press.
200-cell or 100-cell on the 2.5 TFSI?
The 200-cell is the road choice: emissions control kept, flow noticeably freer. The 100-cell, for its part, is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country; the decat version is reserved for track use. In both cases, the ECU remap is what makes the difference in power.
