Which valved exhaust for an Audi A3 8Y 2.0 TFSI?
The Rog system for the Audi A3 8Y 2.0 TFSI is a valved cat-back exhaust in 304 stainless steel or titanium, built to your VIN for the 190 hp EA888, or 204 hp after the facelift. The goal is not volume at any cost: valves open, a voice that enhances the car; valves closed, factory-level silence.

The 2021 to 2024 A3 8Y lives with an engine that is discreet by design: the 40 TFSI, a 2.0 turbo EA888 with 190 hp, then 204 hp after the facelift, and 320 Nm. Its factory exhaust aims for silence, and the thin trickle of sound it lets out says nothing about the torque on tap. That mismatch is what our cat-back corrects, also called a valve exhaust when talking about its controlled valves.
Open, they let through a full, sporty tone, with frank crackles on the overrun; the aim is not volume at all costs, but a voice that enhances the car. Closed, they send the gases back into the silencer chambers and the A3 regains the calm of a premium compact. The S3 8Y, the RS3 8Y and the earlier A3 8V have their own pages.
Your VIN, taken from field E of the registration document, is used to check compatibility before manufacturing, as the system is designed for the 2.0 TFSI of this generation. Fitting is done without cutting: clamps, gaskets, about two hours of workshop time, and round outlets at the rear. If the A3 has factory valves, the exhaust connects to their control; otherwise, the Rog remote and its box in the boot take care of it.
Further upstream, this page’s “Manifold” option replaces the downpipe, which contains the catalytic converter at the turbo outlet. For an A3 that covers its miles every week, the 200-cell version is more than enough and keeps emissions control, whereas the 100-cell is accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules and the decat version is reserved for track use. As long as the map remains factory, expect sound and a little weight saving, with no power gain. That leaves the choice of material: 304 stainless steel for robustness and a round sound, or titanium around 40% lighter, finished in brushed, gold or purple.

For the A3 8Y 40 TFSI, does an ECU remap bring anything?
Not to fit the cat-back: it works with Audi’s engine management. It becomes worthwhile if you also fit the downpipe, as it is the remap that turns the freed-up flow into power. We do not publish a Stage 2 figure here for this version.
The A3 8Y and its valve exhaust: what precautions for the vehicle inspection?
Come with the valves closed: the A3 then sounds almost as it did on delivery. With the cat-back alone or a 200-cell downpipe, emissions control stays in place. For the 100-cell version, everything depends on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is intended for the track only.
On an A3 8Y driven all year round, is stainless steel or titanium better?
304 stainless steel shrugs off winter salt and gives a round voice: it is the most frequent choice. Titanium weighs around 40% less for the same design, sounds more metallic at high revs and does not rust either.
