Configuration
BMW X5 M F85 4.4TT Valved Exhaust (2015-2018)
Valves
Operated by remote control, paired in our workshop.
Estimated at 0.50 m from the outlet, 45°, 2,000 rpm with a warm engine. Allow ± 2 dB depending on the engine and measuring point. A 3 dB difference is audible in a direct comparison; 10 dB sounds roughly twice as loud.
Configuration guide
Sound intensity with the valves open, on a scale of 0 to 10.
| Configuration | Intensity |

The BMW X5 M F85 exhaust in detail.
The second generation of BMW M SUVs, the 2015 to 2018 X5 M F85 receives a thoroughly revised S63: a 4.4-litre V8 with the turbos inside the V, 575 hp and 750 Nm, with thrust that does not fade all the way to the top of the rev range. The guide shows a system shared with the X6 M F86, which keeps its own page; the X5 M E70 and X5 M F95 have theirs.
Its factory system has two flaws: it smothers this engine and weighs heavily at the rear, 35.4 kg according to the page. Yet the S63 has a gruffer voice than American V8s, less round, with a tight rumble that hardens at high revs; from the factory, the driver mainly perceives the thrust. With the valves open, our cat-back lets you hear the V8 from start-up, then a deep, continuous wave with every acceleration; with them closed, the F85 regains the discretion of a large family SUV.
Fitting needs no welding: clamps, gaskets and about two hours, for a system bent to your VIN and controlled by the factory control or by the Rog remote.
The “Manifold” option sells the S63’s downpipes with their catalytic converters; with a factory map, they only change the voice and the weight. The 200-cell downpipes leave this second-generation X5 M with full emissions control; with 100 cells, they are accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is reserved for track use. Against such a heavy stock system, titanium and its roughly 40% lower mass than 304 stainless steel find real ground here.

Questions about the BMW X5 M F85 4.4TT exhaust.
Does the X6 M F86 share the X5 M F85 system?
Our guide groups them together, the F86 being an F85 with a coupé silhouette; each SUV nonetheless keeps its own page, and the VIN is always checked before manufacturing.
How far can an X5 M F85 go at Stage 2?
The page publishes 715 hp and 890 Nm, with downpipes and an ECU remap by an approved tuner; such an increase puts strain on the transmission and cooling, and the cat-back on its own requires none of that.
Does a modified X5 M F85 get through the vehicle inspection?
If the S63 arrives at idle, valves closed, with the original catalytic converters or 200-cell downpipes still in place, nothing sets it apart from a stock car; with 100 cells, acceptance depends on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is reserved for track use.
How much does the X5 M F85’s factory system weigh?
Our data lists it at 35.4 kg, silencers included; our titanium version weighs around 40% less than the same system in stainless steel, enough to relieve the SUV’s rear axle.
My X5 M F85 is one of the last, from 2019: does this apply to it?
The supplier cites a specification sheet up to 2019 but lists 2015 to 2018; your VIN will allow the workshop to remove any doubt before manufacturing.
