The BMW M5 F10 exhaust in detail.
When the F10 succeeded the E60, purists remembered only one thing: the M5 was losing its naturally aspirated V10. BMW understood this so well that it piped an artificial engine sound into the cabin. Fifteen years later, the S63TU is seen for what it is, a formidable 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, with 560 hp and 680 Nm available very early. Our page covers cars from 2012 to 2016, while the V10 E60 and the all-wheel-drive F90 are covered on separate pages.
Its hot-vee layout, with the turbos housed in the vee, naturally filters the exhaust, and the factory system finishes the job with limousine silencers: a V8 you sense more than you hear. On an engine like this, the point is not to add noise but to remove what masks it. With the valves open, the Rog cat-back gives the S63 back a deep rumble at idle, a commanding climb and crackles on lift-off; with the valves closed, the F10 becomes the hushed grand tourer of early-morning departures again.
For an M5 of this value, no cutting: the system, bent to its VIN, connects with clamps and gaskets in about two hours, with the factory valve control kept or the Rog remote as a replacement.
The “Manifold” option sells the S63’s pair of downpipes, with their catalytic converters; without an ECU remap, they add voice and remove a little weight, without extra horsepower. Fitted with 200 cells, they keep the exhaust gas treatment of the first turbocharged M5; with 100 cells, the car is accepted or not depending on the vehicle and the rules in your country; the decat version is reserved for track use. On the cat-back side, 304 stainless steel gives the V8 a full roundness, while titanium makes it around 40% lighter and comes in brushed, gold or purple.

Questions about the BMW M5 F10 4.4TT exhaust.
Does a 2011 or 2017 M5 F10 fall under this page?
Our page covers 2012 to 2016, without the 2011 and 2017 model years; if your M5 is one of these, send us the VIN and we check compatibility before building.
What does an M5 F10 become at Stage 2?
According to the published figures, 683 hp and 893 Nm, with downpipes and an ECU remap at an approved centre: modern M5 figures for a used car, as the engine is robust and widely proven; the cat-back alone requires no map.
BMW M5 F10 S63TU 4.4TT with a Rog exhaust: what should you know about vehicle inspection?
With the valves closed, the V8 returns to a murmur close to stock, and the 200-cell downpipes or the original front section keep the exhaust gas treatment; with 100 cells, acceptance depends on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is reserved for track use.
Does the engine sound played in the M5 F10’s cabin disappear?
We do not touch that electronic setting; however, with the valves open, the S63’s genuine rumble finally arrives from the rear, and the artifice loses all its point.
Stainless steel or titanium for the voice of an S63?
304 stainless steel keeps a full, deep bass; titanium, around 40% lighter for the same design, gives a slightly more metallic note at full load.
BMW M5 F10 4.4TT: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
BMW M5 F10 4.4TT: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
