The BMW M550i G30 exhaust in detail.
The M550i G30 is the very definition of a sleeper: a discreet 5 Series with xDrive all-wheel drive that follows an M5 very closely on the road. Its N63, a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 with the turbos in the vee, quoted 462 hp and 650 Nm at launch in 2017, then 530 hp and 750 Nm after the July 2019 update. M550i models sold between 2017 and 2022 are covered; the 550i F10 and the M5 F90 have their own systems.
Its discretion is total, including for the driver: the V8 is practically inaudible in all circumstances, and many owners sum it up like this: I love my car but I never hear it. With the valves open, our cat-back lets the N63 rumble with a depth nobody expects from a 5 Series, backed by a full climb through the revs and frank crackles; with them closed, the M550i becomes the invisible saloon it is meant to be once again.
Under this executive saloon, installation remains simple: no welding, clamps and gaskets, about two hours, and an exhaust made to your VIN whose valves follow the factory control or the Rog remote.
Under the “Manifold” option, the page sells the N63’s front section, with its catalytic converters; on its own, it changes voice and mass, and it is an ECU remap that turns it into horsepower. The 200-cell version leaves the sleeper with its original emissions control; the 100-cell one is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country; the decat version is reserved for track use. 304 stainless steel thickens the V8’s bass, titanium lightens it by around 40% with a brushed, gold or purple finish.

Questions about the BMW M550i N63 G30 4.4TT exhaust.
Does an M550i registered in 2023 fall under this page?
Not as things stand: the last year documented on our page is 2022. Send us the VIN, and we will confirm whether or not your saloon is compatible before any manufacturing.
Can a remapped M550i worry an M5?
According to the published figures, 590 hp and 830 Nm for the 462 hp version, 700 hp and 980 Nm for the 530 hp one, with a front section and an ECU remap at an approved centre; enough to play in the M5’s league, while the cat-back alone requires no map at all.
The M550i has to go through the vehicle inspection: what precautions should I take?
Stay true to its sleeper nature: valves shut, V8 inaudible, and a front section that keeps cleaning the gases, the factory one or the 200-cell; the 100-cell is accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules, and the decat version is reserved for track use.
462 or 530 hp: how do I know which M550i I have?
The V8 update dates from July 2019; your VIN lets us identify it, which matters for an ECU remap but not for fitting the cat-back.
Does the M550i remain a sleeper with the Rog system?
Yes, that is the whole point of the valves: closed, nobody suspects the V8; open, it rumbles. The perfect sleeper, both ways.
BMW M550i N63 G30 4.4TT: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
BMW M550i N63 G30 4.4TT: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
