Which valved exhaust for a BMW 540i G30 or G31?
The Rog system for the BMW 540i B58 is a valved cat-back exhaust for the G30 saloon and G31 Touring, built to your VIN in 304 stainless steel or titanium for the six-cylinder with 340 hp, then 333 hp with mild hybrid assistance. If the car left the factory with valves, the system keeps their control through the driving modes; valves open, the B58 regains its round, even song.
Sound, options and fitting in detail: our BMW 540i G30 / G31 guide.
As a G30 saloon or G31 Touring, the 2018 to 2023 540i receives the B58, a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six: 340 hp and 450 Nm before the facelift, 333 hp in mild hybrid form afterwards. The engine focuses on smoothness and reach, with generous torque very early. Its four-cylinder cousin, the 530i, uses the same system according to the guide but keeps a separate page, as does the M550i with its V8.
The B58 unfurls the round, even song of the inline-six, more metallic at high revs, but in a factory 5 Series it is reduced to a breath, barely perceptible from the cabin, even under hard acceleration. Our valved cat-back, with the valves open, gives both the saloon and the Touring a new presence, with a clean climb through the revs and crackles on the overrun; with the valves closed, you get back the tranquillity of a grand tourer loaded up for the holidays.
Fitting calls for no welding, whether the car is a saloon or an estate: clamps, gaskets, about two hours, and a system made to the VIN whose valves stay controlled by the factory driving modes where they exist, by the Rog remote otherwise.
The front part on this page, sold under the “Manifold” option, is the B58’s downpipe; without an ECU remap, it only changes the voice and the weight. A family Touring will happily keep its emissions control with the 200-cell, the 100-cell being accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules and the decat version reserved for track use. 304 stainless steel extends the roundness of the inline-six, while titanium brightens it and weighs around 40% less.

Questions about the BMW 540i B58 G30 / G31 3.0T exhaust.
G30 saloon or G31 Touring: does the 540i take the same system?
Yes, both body styles are listed on the page; for a 2017 car, missing from our page, send us the VIN and we will check before building.
Does a 540i G30’s B58 lend itself to Stage 2?
For the 340 hp version, the page publishes Stage 2 figures of 440 hp and 620 Nm with a downpipe and a map at an approved tuner; no figures are published for the facelifted mild-hybrid 540i.
Saloon or Touring, how should a 540i be presented at vehicle inspection?
Quietly and with its emissions control in good order: valves closed, factory catalytic converter or 200-cell downpipe, and the 5 Series is indistinguishable from a stock car; the 100-cell is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is reserved for track use.
Will a loaded G31 Touring resonate on the motorway to the holidays?
No: with the valves closed, the gases pass through the cruising silencer, and the estate stays restful for the whole family; the B58 only speaks up at your request.
Will the 540i’s driving modes stay in charge?
If the car left the factory with valves, yes, the exhaust takes over their control; otherwise, the Rog remote opens and closes whatever the mode.
BMW 540i B58 G30 / G31 3.0T: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
BMW 540i B58 G30 / G31 3.0T: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
