Which valved exhaust for a BMW 530i G30 or G31?
The Rog system for the BMW 530i B48 is a valved cat-back exhaust for the G30 saloon and G31 Touring, built to your VIN in 304 stainless steel or titanium for the 252 hp, 350 Nm 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder. Valves open, the 5 Series gains a full bass on start-up and a firm edge under load; closed, it keeps its comfort.
Sound, options and fitting in detail: our BMW 530i G30 / G31 guide.
The 530i, as a G30 saloon or a G31 Touring, entrusts the 2018 to 2023 5 Series to the B48, a 2.0-litre four-cylinder with twin-scroll turbo and direct injection, delivering 252 hp and 350 Nm. It focuses on efficiency, with generous torque very early, ideal for a grand tourer. According to the guide, the B58,540i shares the same system but has its own page, as does the M550i V8.
In a 5 Series, the factory exhaust is a comfort device: it erases the engine to make way for silence, and the B48 only reaches the cabin as a distant breath. Its real voice is firm and gravelly, hardening under load. Open the valves of the Rog cat-back and the saloon gains a full bass at start-up and roll-ons you can hear; close them, and you get back the calm of long stages and business meetings.
No cutting or welding under the G30’s floor: the system is built to your VIN and fixed with clamps and gaskets in about two hours. If your 530i has factory valves, their control is retained; otherwise, the Rog remote takes over.
Here the “Manifold” option corresponds to the B48’s downpipe, which carries the catalytic converter; on its own, it mainly changes the voice and slightly the weight, with power coming from the map. Three catalyst levels exist for this downpipe: 200-cell, which leaves the 530i able to control its emissions, 100-cell, accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version, reserved for track use. For this valved cat-back, understated 304 stainless steel or titanium around 40% lighter, in three finishes.

Questions about the BMW 530i B48 G30 / G31 2.0T exhaust.
Can the 520i G30 or the G31 Touring take the 530i system?
Yes for the G31 Touring: the G30 saloon and the G31 Touring take the same Rog system, as on our 540i page, with the same clamp-and-gasket fitting. The 520i is not covered by this page: for it, send the VIN and we check before manufacturing.
What figures for a remapped 530i G30?
The published Stage 2 figures are 310 hp and 480 Nm, with a downpipe and a map from an approved tuner; no figures are published for the facelift version, and the cat-back alone is happy with the original engine management.
BMW 530i B48 G30 2.0T with a Rog exhaust: what should you know about vehicle inspection?
With the cat-back only or the 200-cell sports catalytic converter, emissions control is retained: present the car with the valves closed. The 100-cell brings more sound and flow, and whether it is accepted at the emissions test depends on the car and local rules; the decat version is intended for track use.
530i xDrive: does the system change?
An xDrive version exists for the front part, but the difference is not yet documented in our records; give us your VIN when you order and we confirm the exact drivetrain configuration before manufacturing.
Does the four-cylinder in a large 5 Series deserve a sports exhaust?
Yes, because it gains a character the saloon never had, without sacrificing anything: with the valves closed, the 530i stays as quiet as from the factory.
BMW 530i B48 G30 / G31 2.0T: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
BMW 530i B48 G30 / G31 2.0T: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
