Mercedes AMG GT Coupé C192: waking up the M177 V8, the complete exhaust system guide
The second AMG GT changed everything: all-wheel drive as standard, a 2+2 cabin and an architecture shared with the SL R232. What has not changed is the hand-built 4.0 twin-turbo V8, and the muzzle that recent regulations impose on it. For your Mercedes-AMG GT63 C192 V8 biturbo, this guide sets out what each choice changes: material, sound, valves and fitting.
Your valved exhaust for Mercedes-AMG GT63 C192 is configured from your VIN, and the Mercedes Valved Exhaust page brings together all our Mercedes systems.

The M177 4.0 twin-turbo V8: the GT goes all-wheel drive
The C192 marks a clean break in the history of the AMG GT. For the first time, the Affalterbach sports car gets AMG Performance 4MATIC+ variable all-wheel drive as standard, its composite aluminium body frees up enough space for a 2+2 cabin, and its architecture is shared with the SL R232. The gearbox is an AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G, with a multi-plate clutch rather than a torque converter. At the heart of it all sits the M177 4.0 twin-turbo V8, with its turbos nestled in the V, hand-built according to the "One Man, One Engine" principle.
The coupé comes in several power levels: the figures in the table below are those of the GT 63 4MATIC+, with 585 hp and 800 Nm. The V8 is there, but you only hear half of it. The Rog exhaust gives it the room it lacks, without touching the factory electronics.
How the exhaust on your Mercedes-AMG GT63 C192 V8 biturbo is put together
Here is what the Rog exhaust replaces, and where the sound is shaped.
The cat-back is the complete exhaust system
It is everything you can see under your Mercedes-AMG GT63 C192 V8 biturbo, all the way to the tips: pipes, silencer, valves. This is where our research and development is focused, and it is what shapes the sound. It fits without touching the engine or the ECU.
Your Mercedes-AMG GT63 C192 V8 biturbo in figures
On a modern car, an exhaust system first changes the voice, the breathing and the weight at the rear. Power, on the other hand, comes from an ECU remap.
Power
Torque
Published factory figures.
Our exhaust systems work perfectly with or without an ECU remap. On your Mercedes-AMG GT63 C192 V8 biturbo, however, we recommend one at an approved tuning centre: it is what lets the engine deliver its full potential.
To be completely transparent: the exhaust alone brings better breathing and sound, while Stage 2 brings the transformation. The AMG V8 is known among tuners for handling power comfortably: with the Rog exhaust and an ECU remap at an approved tuning centre, the resulting figures stay within the working range of an engine designed with headroom.
Configuring your exhaust, step by step
2 choices, in the same order as the product page configurator.
-
Step 1 of 2: Material: stainless steel or titanium
Titanium costs more than stainless steel; the price of each version is shown on the product page, in your currency.
304 stainless steel
- Weight
- Baseline
- Sound
- Full and rounded
The benchmark for high-end exhausts: tough, corrosion-proof, with a full, rounded sound. The choice of most of our customers.
Titanium
- Weight
- Around 40% lighter
- Sound
- Metallic, crystal-clear
Around 40% lighter than stainless steel for the same design, with a more metallic sound that turns crystal-clear at high revs. Its finish ranges from brushed to blued tints.
Over time, both hold up: 304 stainless steel stands up to winter salt and damp, and titanium does not rust. Stainless steel or titanium: what really changes.
-
Step 2 of 2: Valves: Rog remote or factory control
Two ways to control the valves on your Mercedes-AMG GT63 C192 V8 biturbo.
Rog remote

A small control unit fits in the boot. Two buttons, open and closed: the valves respond at any moment, whatever the drive mode. Simple to fit, and we stay on hand throughout the installation.
Factory control
- Only for vehicles fitted with factory valves
- Controlled by the drive modes
If your vehicle is fitted with factory valves, the exhaust keeps their existing control. The drive modes decide, just as they did from the factory, with no added electronics.
On the motorway, with the valves closed, the gases pass through the silencer, designed for cruising: no drone at a steady speed. You open up when you feel like it, not when the motorway decides for you. More about exhaust drone.
Your choices carry over to the product page: only the finishes, your VIN and the cart remain.
The Rog sound signature on the AMG V8
The AMG V8 has a sound identity recognised worldwide: a deep, rolling thunder punctuated by sharp bangs on the overrun. That is precisely what the C192 generation lost as it became more civilised. Our exhaust removes what stifles it and restores that signature in full with the valves open. With the valves closed, the coupé goes back to being the grand tourer it knows how to be, without losing any of its comfort.

What about the manufacturer's warranty on your Mercedes-AMG GT63 C192 V8 biturbo? In Europe, a manufacturer cannot refuse warranty cover simply because a part from another brand has been fitted: it has to prove that the fault comes from that part. Our article on the manufacturer's warranty.

Mercedes-AMG GT63 C192 V8 biturbo: your questions
How much power does an exhaust add on the Mercedes-AMG GT63 C192 V8 biturbo?
As standard, the Mercedes-AMG GT63 C192 V8 biturbo produces 585 hp and 800 Nm. An exhaust system on its own mainly changes the sound, the breathing and the weight; power is gained with an ECU remap.
Stainless steel or titanium: which material for the Mercedes-AMG GT63 C192 V8 biturbo?
The Rog exhaust comes in stainless steel and titanium, at the price shown on the product page in your currency. 304 stainless steel is tough, rounded in tone and the most popular choice; titanium is around 40% lighter for the same design, with a more metallic sound at high revs.
Is the Rog exhaust loud all the time on the Mercedes-AMG GT63 C192 V8 biturbo?
No. With the valves closed, the gases pass through the silencer and the sound stays comfortable. With the valves open, the engine speaks freely. You switch from one to the other at any moment, with the Rog remote or the factory control if your vehicle has it.
Will a Rog exhaust pass vehicle inspection on the Mercedes-AMG GT63 C192 V8 biturbo?
The Rog exhaust replaces the rear part of the exhaust, without touching the engine or the ECU. Present the car with the valves closed: it is the most discreet setting.
How is the Rog exhaust fitted on the Mercedes-AMG GT63 C192 V8 biturbo?
No welding or cutting, using clamps and gaskets. Allow two hours on average for a well-equipped mechanic. The exhaust is built for your VIN, which guarantees compatibility before it ships.
What price and lead time for a Rog exhaust on the Mercedes-AMG GT63 C192 V8 biturbo?
The price depends on the configuration and is shown on the product page, in your currency. Allow 20 working days from order confirmation to delivery. Free delivery and a 3-year warranty.
