The BMW M6 E63 / E64 exhaust in detail.
A grand touring coupé, the M6 E63 shares an extraordinary engine with the M5 of the same era: a 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V10 designed by the M division, with individual throttle bodies, 507 hp and 520 Nm. This V10 lives at high revs, and its power has to be earned by chasing the top of the rev counter, a rare character for a GT. The page is for E63 coupés and E64 convertibles built from 2006 to 2010, with the following twin-turbo generation having its own page.
The V10 has a voice all its own: a hoarse rumble at low revs that turns into a metallic howl as the needle climbs, a rare sound in a road car. The massive, heavily muffled factory exhaust only lets through a softened, almost timid version. With the valves open, the Rog cat-back gives it back its full range, from the hushed bass at idle to the high-pitched scream at high revs; with the valves closed, the M6 becomes a civilised coupé for long distances again.
On a coupé of this value, fitting respects the car: no welding, clamps and gaskets, about two hours, with an exhaust made to the VIN and valves controlled by the factory control or the Rog remote.
This page sells a cat-back only, with no front section option: the V10 and its ECU stay as the M division set them up, and the system works on the voice and the weight at the rear. For a GT you intend to keep, 304 stainless steel offers a full sound and ages well; titanium, around 40% lighter for the same design, makes the V10’s howl more crystalline and comes in brushed, gold or purple.

Questions about the BMW M6 E63 / E64 V10 5.0L exhaust.
Can the E64 M6 convertible take the coupé’s system?
Yes. The E63 coupé and the E64 convertible take the same Rog system, rear silencers included; the centre pipe is built to your VIN for each body style. For a 2005 M6, before the years covered by this page, the VIN also lets us check the model year.
Does an M6’s V10 benefit from an ECU remap?
Modestly, like any naturally aspirated engine: the page publishes Stage 2 figures of 564 hp and 578 Nm, a gain felt mostly in the top-end reach; the cat-back, for its part, requires no electronic work.
BMW M6 E63 S85 V10 5.0L with a Rog exhaust: what should you know about vehicle inspection?
Present it with the valves closed, for a voice close to stock; this cat-back only replaces the rear part of the exhaust, with the rest of the system and the engine remaining factory.
Do the E63 M6 and the E60 M5 have the same system?
They share the V10, but the M5 and the M6 each have their own system and page; your VIN confirms which one matches your car.
For a collectible M6 coupé, stainless steel or titanium?
304 stainless steel stays true to the spirit of the car and gives a full sound; titanium is around 40% lighter and brings out the V10’s high notes at high revs.
BMW M6 E63 / E64 V10 5.0L: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
BMW M6 E63 / E64 V10 5.0L: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
