Configuration
Honda NSX / NSX-T GEN 1 V6 Valved Exhaust System (1990-2005)
Valves
Operated by remote control, factory-paired.
Estimated at 0.50 m from the outlet, 45°, 2,000 rpm with a warm engine. Allow ± 2 dB depending on the engine and measuring point. A 3 dB difference is audible in a direct comparison; 10 dB sounds roughly twice as loud.
Configuration guide
Sound intensity with the valves open, on a scale of 0 to 10.
| Configuration | Intensity |

The Honda NSX / NSX-T GEN 1 V6 exhaust in detail.
The first NSX, fine-tuned by Ayrton Senna, reinvented the usable supercar: a mid-mounted naturally aspirated VTEC V6, 274 hp and 298 Nm, that revs high and sounds right. Produced from 1990 to 2005, it belongs to the aristocracy of engineers’ supercars, and its engine deserves a presence that the polite factory exhaust only partly delivers.
The Rog system gives it back that presence without betraying the character of an engineers’ car: with the valves open, the V6 gains depth at high revs; with the valves closed, the original refinement remains intact. For an NSX project, write to us: a car of this calibre deserves a dedicated conversation. The second-generation hybrid NSX has its own page, and your VIN is checked before manufacturing.
About two hours in the workshop are enough, with no welding, and any factory valves keep their control, with the Rog remote replacing it otherwise.
The front part, which carries the V6’s catalytic converters, is listed under the “Manifold” option; on this naturally aspirated engine, its benefit lies mainly in breathing, with an accompanying ECU remap bringing only a modest gain, around 3 to 8%. A GEN 1 NSX still driven on the road will keep the 200-cell version, the only one that retains emissions control; the 100-cell will be accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules, and the decat remains reserved for track use. The choice between 304 stainless steel and titanium, around 40% lighter, is made with us, as is the choice of finish.

Questions about the Honda NSX / NSX-T GEN 1 V6 exhaust.
Does an early NSX GEN 1 V6, from 1990, take the same exhaust as a 2005 model?
The page covers the GEN 1 NSX across this whole period, with figures of 274 hp and 298 Nm; as the versions evolved over fifteen years, we check your car’s VIN before any manufacturing.
On an NSX GEN 1, should the engine management be touched?
No: the cat-back keeps the original engine management, and on this naturally aspirated V6 the system brings breathing and a new sound dimension; even with the front part, an ECU remap would only add a few per cent.
Vehicle inspection in an NSX GEN 1: what do you recommend?
Closed valves and an original or 200-cell front section: the NSX regains its stock refinement and its active catalytic converters. The 100-cell depends on the car and your country; in decat form, it is reserved for the track.
Does a collectable NSX GEN 1 V6 deserve a conversation before ordering?
Yes, and we always offer it: configuration, material and finish are chosen together on a car of this calibre, before the VIN check and manufacturing.
Does the targa-top NSX-T take the same system as the coupé?
Yes. The NSX coupé and the NSX-T take the same Rog system: same chassis, same V6, same clamp-and-gasket fitting. Your VIN is only used to confirm the version and model year before manufacturing.
Honda NSX / NSX-T GEN 1 V6: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
