    A question about this exhaust?

    MercedesA-Class W177

    Which valved exhaust for a Mercedes-Benz A200 W177?

The Rog system for the Mercedes-Benz A200 W177 is a valved cat-back exhaust in 304 stainless steel or titanium, built to your VIN for the 163 hp M282 1.3-litre turbo. On an engine this size, the exhaust provides almost all of the character: valves open, a lively, slightly raspy voice; closed, the hushed comfort of a premium compact.

Sound, options and fitting in detail: our Mercedes-Benz A200 W177 guide.

Small displacement, big effect: the A200 W177 from 2019 to 2021 entrusts its 163 hp and 250 Nm to a 1.3-litre four-cylinder, the M282, turbocharged with direct injection. The torque arrives early and the A-Class feels lively in town as on the open road. Its factory system, however, is designed so that you never hear the engine, neither from the cabin nor from the pavement.

On an engine of this size, the exhaust makes up almost all of the character. The Rog cat-back, a valved exhaust, gives the M282 a lively, slightly hoarse voice: a start-up you can hear, a more pronounced grain when accelerating, with nothing intrusive. With the valves closed, the A200 keeps the hushed comfort of a premium hatchback, very close to what Mercedes delivered.

This page sells the system alone. There is no front section option: the factory catalytic converter stays in place and emissions control is untouched, with no ECU remap to plan for. The AMG versions of the same generation, the A35 and A45 W177, each have their own page, with an optional downpipe.

Each system starts from your VIN; on the A-Class, it bolts on using band clamps and gaskets, in about two hours, with no welding. For control, the Rog remote, whose box slips into the boot, opens and closes on demand; if your A200 has factory valves, their control is retained. 304 stainless steel gives the hatchback a round sound; titanium, around 40% lighter, adds a clearer note and three colours, including gold and purple.

    Questions about the Mercedes-Benz A200 W177 1.3 turbo exhaust.

    Can an A250 or a pre-2019 A-Class take the A200 W177’s exhaust?

No: the page is set up for the 2019 to 2021 A200 W177 1.3 turbo. The A250 2.0 and earlier generations are not covered. If in doubt, send us the VIN before ordering, and we check with no obligation.

Will my A200 W177 need an ECU remap once the system is fitted?

No. The system fits behind the original catalytic converter and requires no work on the ECU: the 163 hp and 250 Nm remain as from the factory. The page publishes no Stage 2 figure for this engine; the cat-back acts on sound and mass.

Mercedes-Benz A200 W177 1.3 turbo with a Rog exhaust: what should you know about vehicle inspection?

The standard catalytic converter stays in place, since this page sells no front section: emissions control is intact. Present the car with the valves closed, with a sound close to stock. We offer neither a 100-cell nor a decat version for this model.

Does the sound become permanent on an A200 W177?

No. With the valves closed, the gases run through the silencer and the compact stays discreet, in town as on the motorway. You open up whenever you feel like it, with the Rog remote or with the original control if the car has one.

    Mercedes-Benz A200 W177 1.3 turbo: Does a valved exhaust system drone?

No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
