The Mercedes-AMG CLS W219 exhaust in detail.
A first-generation four-door coupé, the CLS W219 comes in an AMG version: the page credits it with 476 hp and 700 Nm, delivered by a V8 from Affalterbach’s golden era. Covered here from 2004 to 2010, it leaves the following W218 generation to another page. Your car’s VIN lets us confirm the exact version before manufacturing.
This V8 has everything that made AMG’s reputation, depth, presence and rolling thunder, but the factory exhaust keeps it too discreet for the car’s sporting nature. With the valves open, the Rog cat-back gives it back a deep rumble at idle and bangs on the overrun; with the valves closed, the W219 keeps its original cruising comfort.
Fitting in about two hours, without welding, with clamps and gaskets, on a system built for your car. It is also called a valved exhaust: the valves follow the factory control if the CLS has one, otherwise the Rog remote, whose box sits in the boot.
For this first-generation CLS, the “Manifold” option corresponds to the catalysed front section, upstream of our system. Chosen in 200-cell form, it keeps emissions control and suits a car that is still driven regularly. More open, a 100-cell version will be accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules; the decat variant, reserved for track use, remains a rare use for a CLS of this age. Remapped with its front section, the W219 AMG reaches 546 hp and 790 Nm according to the page. As for the material, 304 stainless steel suits a CLS of this generation, while titanium lightens the system by around 40%.

Questions about the Mercedes CLS W219 exhaust.
Which CLS W219 AMG does this page cover?
The page lists a CLS W219 AMG with 476 hp and 700 Nm, for the 2004 to 2010 model years. Lacking further detail in our sources, we confirm each car by its VIN before manufacturing.
Does a CLS W219 AMG need an ECU remap to enjoy the system?
No ECU remap is required for the cat-back alone. With the front section and a full remap, the page quotes 546 hp and 790 Nm; without them, the system changes the voice, not the power.
How should a modified CLS W219 AMG be presented at vehicle inspection?
In its road configuration: valves closed, original or 200-cell front section, factory sound and treated gases. With a 100-cell front section, this first-generation CLS will be accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country. The decat variant, reserved for track use, has no place at the inspection.
On a CLS W219, can the factory valve control be retained?
If the car has them, the exhaust connects to the existing control. Otherwise, the two-button Rog remote opens and closes the valves independently of the selected mode.
Mercedes CLS W219: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
Mercedes CLS W219: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
