The Audi Q5 8R 2.0 TFSI exhaust in detail.
Under the bonnet of the 2014 model year Q5 8R, the 2.0 TFSI is a 2.0-litre direct-injection turbocharged petrol four-cylinder, rated at 225 hp and 350 Nm. Its torque arrives early and moves the SUV effortlessly: a flexible engine, designed to carry a family rather than to get noticed. Its sporty big brother, the V6 SQ5 8R, has a separate page.
Yet a turbocharged four-cylinder has a drier, more rhythmic voice than you might imagine, with a grain that hardens as boost rises. In the stock Q5, silencers and soundproofing bring it down to a distant whisper. With the valves open, our valved cat-back lets that grain out: a more present start-up, acceleration you can hear. With the valves closed, the Q5 becomes the discreet SUV of early-morning departures again.
The page lists only the 2014 model year, the one we retain for the cat-back; the front part covers a wider range. If your Q5 is from another year, the VIN lets us check before manufacturing. Fitting is done with clamps and gaskets, no welding, in about two hours, with a round tip; factory valves retained if present, otherwise the Rog remote with its box in the boot.
Here the “Manifold” option refers to the downpipe, which leaves the turbo with its catalytic converter. On an SUV that takes the family on holiday, the 200-cell version is the obvious choice, since it keeps emissions control; the 100-cell is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is reserved for track use, an unlikely job for a Q5. Fitted without an ECU remap, it does not change the power, only the sound and slightly the weight. The system comes in 304 stainless steel as well as titanium, the latter around 40% lighter and finished in your choice of brushed, gold or purple.

Questions about the Audi Q5 8R 2.0 TFSI exhaust.
My Q5 8R 2.0 TFSI dates from 2012: can I order?
Not blindly: our data only confirms the cat-back for 2014. Send us your Q5’s VIN, we will check compatibility and reply before starting manufacturing.
What does a Q5 8R 2.0 TFSI gain at Stage 2?
The cat-back requires no ECU remap. It is adding the downpipe, followed by a reworked map at an approved tuning centre, that takes the published figures from 225 hp and 350 Nm to 305 hp and 462 Nm.
Does a modified Q5 8R stay presentable at the vehicle inspection?
Yes, provided you close the valves, to get back the standard breath, and keep full emissions control: cat-back only or 200-cell downpipe. The 100-cell is judged depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules; in decat form, the Q5 should not leave a circuit.
Do long journeys in a Q5 8R become tiring with this system?
With the valves closed, the gases pass through the silencer designed for cruising, and the SUV stays composed at a steady speed. You open them for your own enjoyment, not because the exhaust forces you to.
Audi Q5 8R 2.0 TFSI: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
Audi Q5 8R 2.0 TFSI: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
