    A question about this exhaust?

    AudiQ5 / SQ5 8R

The Audi SQ5 8R 3.0 TFSI exhaust in detail.

The petrol SQ5 8R gets a 3.0 TFSI V6 boosted by a supercharger housed in the vee, between the two cylinder banks. It produces 354 hp and 470 Nm with the immediate response typical of mechanical supercharging, from the slightest touch of throttle. This page covers the 2016 and 2017 model years; the turbocharged SQ5 FY that succeeds it has its own system, and the diesel SQ5s are not concerned.

On this V6, the engine’s bass is accompanied by a mechanical whistle under acceleration, which the factory exhaust reduces to polite background noise. With the valves open, our valved cat-back makes the V6 rumble at start-up and gives depth to every burst of acceleration, right down to the downshifts. With the valves closed, the SQ5 becomes the family SUV again, calm in town and relaxing on long journeys.

Four round exits, clamps and gaskets: an equipped mechanic installs the whole system without welding in about two hours. The SQ5 keeps control of its factory valves if it has them; otherwise, the Rog remote, whose box is stowed in the boot, opens them on demand.

Sold under the heading “Manifold”, the SQ5’s option replaces the front parts that follow the engine and house the catalytic converters. Its 200-cell version keeps emissions control, which is what you expect from a family SUV; with 100 cells, it is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, while the decat version is reserved for track use. With the original management, the supercharger does not deliver a single extra horsepower: only sound and a little less weight. As for material, the SQ5 can take 304 stainless steel or titanium around 40% lighter, finished in brushed, gold or purple.

Questions about the Audi SQ5 8R 3.0 TFSI V6 exhaust.

My SQ5 8R is a TDI: can I order this system?

No, the page is set up for the supercharged petrol V6 3.0 TFSI, and the diesel versions are expressly excluded. Contact us with your VIN: we will tell you what exists for your SQ5.

What is the difference from the SQ5 FY system?

The SQ5 FY moves to a 500 Nm turbocharged V6 and has its own page. The 8R variant must be chosen for your car, without transposing the FY’s: your VIN confirms the right system.

Audi SQ5 8R 3.0 TFSI V6 with a Rog exhaust: what should you know about vehicle inspection?

Close the valves to return to the stock sound. The cat-back alone and the 200-cell front section leave emissions control intact. The 100-cell will be accepted or refused depending on the car and the rules in your country, and a decat front section is for track use only.

Does the SQ5 8R’s supercharged V6 benefit from an ECU remap?

Not for the cat-back, which works with Audi’s map. With the front section and an ECU remap at an approved tuner, the page publishes 420 hp and 609 Nm, compared with 354 hp and 470 Nm from the factory.

    Audi SQ5 8R 3.0 TFSI V6: Does a valved exhaust system drone?

No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.

Audi SQ5 8R 3.0 TFSI V6: straight pipe or resonator?

On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
