The Audi S8 D4 exhaust in detail.
With the S8 D4, Audi replaced the previous generation’s naturally aspirated V10 with the 4.0 TFSI, a twin-turbo V8 with the turbos housed in the vee, rated at 520 hp and 650 Nm, on S8s built between 2013 and 2018. The 605 hp S8 plus is not covered, nor are 2012 cars: your VIN settles it before manufacturing.
From the factory, everything contributes to discretion: turbos in the centre of the engine, silencers sized for cruising, limousine-grade insulation. The V8 whispers. With the valves open, our valved cat-back removes the restrictions and releases a deep rumble at idle, an authoritative climb and crisp crackles on the overrun. With the valves closed, the S8 regains the silence of an executive saloon, one you drive or are driven in.
Four round exits, fitting with clamps and gaskets without any welding, about two hours on a lift: the job remains light. The factory valves stay controlled by the drive modes; failing that, the Rog remote, hidden in the boot, opens and closes them.
The “Manifold” option sold on this page corresponds to the V8’s downpipes, which leave the turbos and house the catalytic converters. An executive limousine hardly ever goes on track: its downpipes are therefore taken with 200 cells, which maintain emissions control; the 100-cell is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is reserved for track use, a rare use for such a car. Without an ECU remap, the 520 hp remain unchanged, with only the sound and a little weight changing. For the finish, titanium, around 40% lighter than 304 stainless steel, ranges from brushed to purple by way of gold.

Questions about the Audi S8 D4 4.0 TFSI V8 exhaust.
Can the S8 plus with 605 hp take the S8 D4 system?
It is not listed: the page targets the 520 hp S8 D4, from 2013 to 2018. If you drive an S8 plus, write to us with the VIN and we look at what is possible before any order.
What does an ECU remap change on the S8 D4’s 520 hp V8?
The cat-back on its own imposes no ECU remap. It is the combination of downpipes and a suitable map that changes the figures: the page lists 693 hp and 840 Nm for the 520 hp version.
Valved S8 D4: in what trim should it be driven to the vehicle inspection?
Closing the valves is all it takes for the V8 to regain its limousine reserve. As long as it keeps the cat-back alone or 200-cell downpipes, its emissions control stays complete. The 100-cell depends on the car and the rules in your country; without a catalytic converter, the S8 belongs on the track only.
How many days before my S8 D4 is on the road with its new system?
Each S8 D4 system is built to the VIN: allow 20 working days from confirmation to delivery, with free delivery, then about two hours of fitting in a workshop equipped with a lift.
Audi S8 D4 4.0 TFSI V8: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
Audi S8 D4 4.0 TFSI V8: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
