The Audi S8 D5 exhaust in detail.
The S8 D5 pushes the twin-turbo 4.0 TFSI to 571 hp and 800 Nm, in a large saloon designed so that nothing filters through to the cabin. S8 D5s built since 2020 are covered by this page. The V8 S8 D4 and V10 D3 have their own system.
This silence comes at a price: the V8, with its turbos housed in the vee, has almost no voice left. With the valves open, our valved cat-back gives it back: a deep bass note from start-up, acceleration you can finally hear, a few crackles when you lift off. With the valves closed, the gases pass through the silencer and the S8 resumes its role as a lounge on wheels, with no drone on the motorway.
Fitting touches nothing else: band clamps, gaskets, no welding and two hours in the workshop on average, with four round tailpipes at the rear. The driving modes keep control of factory valves; without them, the Rog remote, with its unit in the boot and two buttons, does the job.
The “Manifold” option on the page replaces the downpipes, the first parts after the turbos, which carry the catalytic converters. A limousine of this class rarely goes on track: the 200-cell version, which preserves emissions control, suits it best, with the 100-cell accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country and the decat version reserved for track use. We publish no Stage 2 figures for the D5, and without an ECU remap its 571 hp do not change: the part only brings sound and a little less weight. 304 stainless steel and titanium, the latter around 40% lighter and offered in three colours, are both available.

Questions about the Audi S8 D5 4.0 TFSI V8 exhaust.
My S8 D5 is a 2025 model: is it covered?
The page covers S8 D5s built since 2020, 2025 models included. Send us the VIN before ordering: we check and reply before any manufacturing.
Is there a published Stage 2 for the S8 D5?
Not on this page. The cat-back works with the factory map and the V8 keeps its 571 hp; the downpipes only translate into power with an ECU remap, whose figures we do not publish here.
How should a valved S8 D5 be presented at vehicle inspection?
With the valves closed, the saloon returns to the discretion it had on delivery. Cat-back alone or 200-cell downpipes: the catalytic converters keep treating the gases. 100-cell downpipes are accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules, and their version without a catalytic converter is for the circuit only.
Is the Rog remote useful on an S8 D5?
Only if the car has no factory valves. Otherwise, the exhaust connects to their control and the Audi’s drive modes decide, just as they did when it left the factory.
Audi S8 D5 4.0 TFSI V8: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
Audi S8 D5 4.0 TFSI V8: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
