Which valved exhaust for a BMW 320i G20 or G21?
The Rog system for the BMW 320i G20 and G21 Touring is a valved cat-back exhaust in 304 stainless steel or titanium, built to your VIN for the 184 hp, 300 Nm B48, both before and after the facelift. Valves open, this sensible-looking four-cylinder gains a full, sporty tone; valves closed, the 3 Series stays as quiet as the day it was delivered.
Sound, options and fitting in detail: our BMW 320i G20 / G21 guide.
An accomplished and pleasant saloon, the 320i G20 is also one of the quietest in its class. Its 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder delivers 184 hp and 300 Nm, both before and after the facelift. This page covers the 2020 to 2026 model years of the G20 saloon and the G21 Touring, which take the same system; for a 318i or a 330i, send us the VIN, and the M340i has its own page.
BMW tuned this engine for efficiency and quietness, not for emotion, so its factory sound remains anonymous. Yet this 2.0-litre proves surprisingly expressive as soon as it is given an exhaust designed for it. With the valves open, our cat-back gives the 320i a full, sporty tone, with clear crackles on the overrun; with the valves closed, it stays the discreet, comfortable saloon you know, never chasing volume at all costs.
For a recent saloon still under manufacturer warranty, one point is reassuring: nothing is welded or cut, the system made to your VIN is fixed with clamps and gaskets in about two hours, and its valves follow the factory control if the 320i has one, the Rog remote otherwise.
On this turbocharged saloon, the “Manifold” option corresponds to the catalysed downpipe; without an ECU remap, it brings a little sound and lightness, but no horsepower. The G20, with its filter and recent standards, keeps its emissions control if you take the 200-cell; the 100-cell is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is reserved for track use. On a recent saloon, 304 stainless steel is the understated choice; titanium, around 40% lighter, dresses the rear in a brushed, gold or purple finish.

Questions about the BMW 320i G20 / G21 2.0T exhaust.
Can the G21 Touring or the 330i G20 take this system?
Yes. The G20 saloon and the G21 Touring take the same Rog system, as a 320i or a 330i, with the same clamp-and-gasket fitting. For a 318i, send us the VIN: we check compatibility before manufacturing.
Downpipe and map on a 320i G20: what figures can I expect?
The published Stage 2 figures are 310 hp and 460 Nm for the pre-facelift version and 280 hp and 420 Nm for the facelift, with a downpipe and a map from an approved tuner; the cat-back alone works without an ECU remap.
Which 320i G20 configuration should be presented at vehicle inspection?
A saloon that controls its emissions and whispers: original catalytic converter or 200-cell downpipe, valves closed, and the G20 presents as it did leaving the dealership; the 100-cell version is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is reserved for track use.
320i facelift or pre-facelift: does the system change?
No, the same system covers the 320i before and after the facelift, with the same 184 hp, 300 Nm B48; your VIN confirms the model year before production.
Does an equipped G20 saloon stay pleasant in town?
Yes: with the valves closed, the gases flow through the silencer and the 320i stays as discreet as it was on delivery, at a red light as in an underground car park.
BMW 320i G20 / G21 2.0T: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
BMW 320i G20 / G21 2.0T: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
