    A question about this exhaust?

    MercedesCLA C118 / X118

    The Mercedes-AMG CLA45 S C118 / X118 exhaust in detail.

More than 200 hp per litre: that is the density of the M139 powering the CLA45 S C118, 421 hp and 500 Nm drawn from two litres and a single turbo, hand-assembled in Affalterbach like the brand’s V8s. The page covers cars produced from 2020 to 2023; the CLA45 without the S is not documented here, and the earlier CLA45 C117 with the M133 engine has its own page.

The particulate filter and factory silencers erase the character of this racing engine. Open the valves of the Rog cat-back and the M139 regains its aggression: a sharp, full sound, climbs through the revs that crack, bangs when you lift off. Close them and the four-door coupé becomes perfectly civilised again, with a sound close to stock. All the fun lies in that contrast.

The system, produced for your VIN, replaces the factory one without welding: clamps, gaskets, about two hours on a lift. The AMG modes control the valves if the car has them from the factory; otherwise, the Rog remote decides, whatever the selector position.

On the M139, the most restrictive part after the silencer is the downpipe, sold here under the “Manifold” option. It comes with 200 cells, which keep emissions control, with 100 cells, accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and in a decat version, reserved for track use. It only brings horsepower with an ECU remap. 304 stainless steel or titanium, which weighs around 40% less and comes in brushed, gold or purple.

    Questions about the Mercedes-AMG CLA45 S C118 / X118 2.0 turbo exhaust.

    Can a non-S CLA45 C118 take this exhaust?

Our page only documents the CLA45 S C118 2.0 turbo from 2020 to 2023. For another version, send us your VIN: we check before any manufacturing. The CLA45 C117 and the A45 S W177 have their own page.

How far does a remapped CLA45 S go?

With the downpipe fitted and the ECU remapped, our data shows 490 hp and 600 Nm against the stock 421 hp and 500 Nm. The cat-back on its own needs no work at all: the AMG ECU handles it as it is.

    Vehicle inspection: which configuration for a CLA45 S C118?

The most sensible: valves closed, cat-back only or 200-cell downpipe, for an active catalytic converter and a sound close to stock. Beyond that, the 100-cell depends on the car and your country’s regulations; the decat variant belongs on the track.

Does the CLA45 S Shooting Brake X118 take the same system?

Yes. The C118 four-door coupé and the X118 Shooting Brake take the same Rog system: same chassis, same engine, same clamp-and-gasket fitting. Your VIN is only used to confirm the version and model year before manufacturing.

On the motorway, does the CLA45 S drone?

With the valves closed, the flow passes through the silencer and cruising at a steady speed stays calm, with no resonance. The valves open when you decide, through the AMG modes or the Rog remote.

    Mercedes-AMG CLA45 S C118 / X118 2.0 turbo: straight pipe or resonator?

On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
