The Mercedes-AMG G63 W463 5.5 exhaust in detail.
The pre-2019 G63 W463 is powered by the M157, a 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 from AMG’s golden era: 571 hp and 760 Nm in a body-on-frame off-roader. This page covers the 2013 to 2018 model years; 2012 is not covered, and the G63 W463A with the 4.0-litre V8 that succeeds it has its own page, as does the V12 G65.
Generous displacement, rolling thunder: the sound legend is there, but the factory exhaust, tuned for a luxury clientele, leaves much of it asleep. The Rog valved cat-back awakens the V8’s depth, its bangs on the overrun and its physical presence; with the valves closed, the G63 regains its cruising comfort intact.
Fitting with clamps and gaskets, no welding, in about two hours; the system, built to your VIN, exits at the side, as the G-Class layout demands. Valves operated by the original control if there is one, otherwise by the Rog remote.
The “Manifold” option sells this twin-turbo’s catalysed downpipe, limited to the 5.5-litre generation. The 200-cell keeps emissions control and is enough for the road. For the 100-cell, acceptance will depend on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is reserved for track use, which keeps it away from an everyday G63. With an ECU remap, the page quotes up to 710 hp and 1,100 Nm for this V8. Titanium, around 40% lighter than 304 stainless steel, lightens the rear slightly.

Questions about the Mercedes-AMG G63 W463 5.5 V8 biturbo exhaust.
My G63 is a 2019 model: does the G63 W463 5.5 system suit it?
No: from 2019, the G63 belongs to the W463A generation with the 4.0-litre V8, which has its own page. This one covers the 5.5-litre from 2013 to 2018; the VIN settles it if in doubt.
How much horsepower for a G63 W463 5.5 in Stage 2?
According to the Stage 2 table, the G63’s M157 goes from 571 hp and 760 Nm to 710 hp and 1,100 Nm, backed by a downpipe and a full map. These V8s have been tuned for a long time; the cat-back alone, for its part, works without an ECU remap.
Mercedes-AMG G63 W463 5.5 V8 biturbo with a Rog exhaust: what should you know about vehicle inspection?
With the cat-back only or the 200-cell sports catalytic converter, emissions control is retained: present the car with the valves closed. The 100-cell brings more sound and flow, and whether it is accepted at the emissions test depends on the car and local rules; the decat version is intended for track use.
Does the G63 W463’s exhaust exit stay on the side?
Yes: the G-Class layout calls for a side exit, which the Rog system retains, with round pipes. Only the sound and the material change.
Mercedes-AMG G63 W463 5.5 V8 biturbo: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
