The Mercedes-AMG G63 W463A exhaust in detail.
The 2019 to 2024 G63 W463A entrusts its 585 hp and 850 Nm to the M177, a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with its turbos in the vee, each one assembled by a single engine builder in Affalterbach. The 2018 model year is not covered; the earlier G63 W463 5.5 has its own page, as does the non-AMG V8 G550 W463A.
The particulate filter and oversized silencers have made this V8 surprisingly polite for a vehicle of this character. The Rog cat-back gives it back a deep rumble punctuated by bangs on the overrun, valves open; valves closed, the G63 regains the calm of a lounge, and the valved system lets you switch from one to the other at the touch of a button.
Fitting requires no welding: clamps, gaskets and about two hours are enough, on a system built to your VIN. The AMG modes control the factory valves if they exist; otherwise, the Rog remote.
Here the “Manifold” option corresponds to the catalysed downpipe that follows the turbos. Chosen with 200 cells, it keeps emissions control, which suits a G63 driven around town. With 100 cells, it will be accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat variant is reserved for track use, where an off-roader of this size hardly belongs. The Stage 2 published on the page rises to 670 hp and 1,000 Nm, full map included. Finally, the material: robust 304 stainless steel, or titanium around 40% lighter, available in three colours.

Questions about the Mercedes-AMG G63 W463A 4.0 V8 biturbo exhaust.
My G63 was delivered in 2018: can it take the W463A system?
The year 2018 is excluded: we cover the 2019 to 2024 G63 W463A, system and downpipe. Depending on your car’s exact date, the VIN lets us decide before manufacturing; the G63 W463 5.5 has its own page.
Which Stage 2 does the page list for the G63 W463A?
The table on the page rises to 670 hp and 1,000 Nm once the downpipe is fitted and the ECU remapped, from 585 hp and 850 Nm as standard. None of this is needed to enjoy the cat-back alone.
Vehicle inspection: what should be kept on a modified G63 W463A?
The factory front section or the 200-cell downpipe, and valves closed at the time of the inspection: the G63 stays at its standard volume, with exhaust gases treated. For a 100-cell downpipe, acceptance depends on the vehicle and your country’s rules, and it is best to make sure beforehand. The decat version is reserved for track use, far from roadside checks.
Does a modified G63 W463A stay liveable in town?
Yes: with the valves closed, it keeps its factory discretion, for parking or an early start. The V8’s rumble only appears when you ask for it.
Mercedes-AMG G63 W463A 4.0 V8 biturbo: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
