The Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 V167 / C167 exhaust in detail.
The GLE 53 AMG V167, on sale since 2019, relies on an electrified 3.0-litre inline-six: turbo, electric compressor and 48 V starter-generator for immediate response, 435 hp and 520 Nm in total. But its factory exhaust has been tuned to be forgotten, to the point that this fast SUV passes for an ordinary model.
Yet an inline-six of this calibre has a voice: deep, silky, consistent, with body under load. The Rog cat-back reveals it, crisp crackles on lift-off included, as soon as the valves open; closed again, they give the SUV back the silence of a grand tourer. The GLE 63 V167, the S63 W223 and the SL R232 each have their own page.
Fitting takes about two hours on a lift; clamps and gaskets hold the system, made for your VIN, without any welding. The factory valve control remains active if the SUV has one; otherwise, the Rog remote. For a recent model, we also use the VIN to check the model year before manufacturing.
On this electrified six-cylinder, the part sold under the “Manifold” option is the catalysed downpipe. With 200 cells, emissions control stays that of a stock SUV. With a 100-cell part, your GLE 53 will be accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country; as for the decat variant, reserved for track use, it does not suit this family SUV. Combined with a full ECU remap, the downpipe makes it possible to reach 530 hp and 640 Nm according to the page. Titanium, around 40% lighter than 304 stainless steel, comes in brushed, gold and purple.

Questions about the Mercedes GLE 53 AMG V167 / C167 exhaust.
My GLE 53 AMG V167 dates from 2019: does this page cover it?
Yes, the page is listed for the GLE 53 AMG V167 from 2019 onwards. As with any recent model, we check your VIN before starting manufacturing, to confirm exact compatibility.
With a downpipe and a new map, how far does a GLE 53 AMG V167 go according to the page?
Up to 530 hp and 640 Nm, from 435 hp and 520 Nm stock. The electrified six-cylinder responds well to this work; the cat-back on its own fits without an ECU remap.
Does a modified GLE 53 AMG V167 need to be prepared for the vehicle inspection?
Simply close the valves and keep the original front section or its 200-cell version: stock sound, active emissions control. If you chose the 100-cell, acceptance will depend on the car and the rules in your country, even before the question of noise. The decat variant, reserved for track use, is out of the question for a family SUV’s inspection.
With the valves closed, does the GLE 53 AMG V167 stay as quiet as stock?
Yes: the gases then pass through the silencer and the SUV regains its grand touring calm, in town as on the motorway. The inline-six’s voice only appears when the valves open.
Does the GLE 53 Coupé C167 take the same system as the SUV?
Yes. The V167 SUV and the C167 Coupé take the same Rog system: same chassis, same 3.0-litre six-cylinder, same clamp-and-gasket fitting. Your VIN is only used to confirm the version and model year before manufacturing.
Mercedes GLE 53 AMG V167 / C167: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
