The Mini John Cooper Works F56 / F57 exhaust in detail.
The John Cooper Works F56 pushes the three-door Mini towards sport: compact size, a lively chassis and the B48, a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder from BMW’s modular family, delivering 231 hp and 320 Nm. The torque arrives early, the response is sharp, and the little front-wheel-drive car strings corners together with the agility that made its name. Our page covers it from 2015 to 2021.
Behind the wheel, the go-kart feel is definitely there; to the ear, much less so, because the factory exhaust smooths out the character of an engine with a lively, slightly hoarse voice that gains depth as you accelerate. With the valves open, our cat-back turns it into the little rocket its handling promises, with a crackling start-up, characterful acceleration and a sound that follows you through every corner; with the valves closed, your JCW stays an easy-going city car.
The system, built to your VIN, fits without welding with clamps and gaskets in about two hours, centre sections included; the valves respond to the factory control if your Mini has one, otherwise to the Rog remote.
This page sells a cat-back only, with no front section option: the B48 and its ECU stay standard, and the system transforms the voice and the weight at the rear, without promising extra horsepower. For a city car driven all year round, 304 stainless steel is the safest choice; titanium, around 40% lighter for the same design, brightens the note and comes in brushed, gold or purple.

Questions about the Mini John Cooper Works F56 / F57 exhaust.
Can a 2022 to 2024 JCW F56 take this exhaust?
Our data lists 2015 to 2021 and excludes 2022 to 2024, which our previous page cited; send us your Mini’s VIN and we check compatibility before building.
Does the JCW F56 need a map once the system is fitted?
Not at all: the B48 keeps its standard management with this cat-back. The 284 hp and 389 Nm published for Stage 2 on the page require far more extensive tuning, to be entrusted to an approved tuner.
Mini John Cooper Works F56 B48 2.0T with a Rog exhaust: what should you know about vehicle inspection?
The Rog exhaust replaces the rear part of the exhaust, without touching the engine or the ECU. Present the car with the valves closed: it is the most discreet setting.
My Mini is a Cooper S F56, not a JCW: what should I do?
This system is described for the John Cooper Works F56 only; for a Cooper S, send us the VIN and we will check what might suit it before any order.
In town, is the John Cooper Works fitted with the system still easy to live with?
Yes, with the valves closed it becomes a discreet city car again; the B48’s voice only appears when you ask for it, on the weekend drive.
Does the Mini JCW Convertible F57 take the same system as the F56 three-door?
Yes. The F56 three-door and the F57 Convertible take the same Rog system: same chassis, same 231 hp B48, same clamp-and-gasket fitting. Your VIN is only used to confirm the version and model year before manufacturing.
Mini John Cooper Works F56 / F57: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
Mini John Cooper Works F56 / F57: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.

Mini John Cooper Works F56 / F57: the go-kart spirit set to music, the exhaust system guide
The John Cooper Works F56 takes the three-door Mini into sporting territory: a compact format, a lively chassis and a B48, a 231 hp, 320 Nm turbocharged four-cylinder. Behind the wheel, the go-kart spirit is very much there. To the...
