Porsche Boxster / Cayman 987.2 2.9 / 3.4 Valved Exhaust (2009-2012)
Valves
Operated by remote control, paired in our workshop.
Estimated at 0.50 m from the outlet, 45°, 2,000 rpm with a warm engine. Allow ± 2 dB depending on the engine and measuring point. A 3 dB difference is audible in a direct comparison; 10 dB sounds roughly twice as loud.

The Porsche Boxster and Cayman 987.2 exhaust in detail.
Boxster or Cayman, the 2009 to 2012 987.2 generation gets 2.9 and 3.4-litre naturally aspirated flat-sixes, with 255 to 320 hp and 290 to 370 Nm depending on the version. A single Rog system covers both body styles on this page. The 987.1 and the 981 have their own system; your VIN lets us confirm compatibility before manufacturing.
It is all in the climb through the revs, and the dated factory exhaust is made to erase it. Mid-engine, short exhaust: every change can be heard immediately. With the valves open, the Rog cat-back restores the flat-six’s metallic, hoarse tone, present from idle, with harmonics that rise with the revs; with the valves closed, the original discretion stays intact.
The page offers the catalysed manifolds under the “Manifold” option. On these non-turbo engines, their contribution stays modest, 3 to 8%, and only exists with an ECU remap; the page publishes Stage 2 figures from 284 hp for the 255 hp version up to 357 hp and 415 Nm for the 320 hp version. With 200 cells, the car treats its emissions just as stock.
About two hours in the workshop, clamps and gaskets, no welding. The valves follow the factory control if there is one, otherwise the Rog remote, from inside the cabin or outside. Compared with 304 stainless steel and its rounder sound, titanium weighs around 40% less for the same design and comes in brushed, chrome, gold or purple. The tips are available in stainless steel, black, carbon or blued titanium.

Questions about the Porsche Boxster / Cayman type 987.2 exhaust.
Boxster or Cayman 987.2: is it really the same system?
Yes, the page and the supplier source cover both the Boxster and the Cayman 987.2, from 2009 to 2012, in 2.9 and 3.4 litres. The VIN lets us check your car before manufacturing.
What can a 987.2 remapped with sports manifolds aim for?
Depending on the version, the page publishes Stage 2 figures from 284 hp and 326 Nm for the 255 hp version to 357 hp and 415 Nm for the 320 hp one. Without manifolds, no map is needed, for the Boxster as for the Cayman.
Boxster or Cayman 987.2 at vehicle inspection: what should be fitted?
Valves closed and factory or 200-cell manifolds: that is the combination that keeps emissions control and a sound close to stock. In 100-cell form, acceptance depends on the vehicle and your country’s rules; a decat 987.2 is reserved for track use.
Is titanium justified on a Cayman or Boxster 987.2?
It weighs around 40% less than stainless steel for the same design, a saving you feel behind you on a mid-engined car, with a more crystalline note at high revs. 304 stainless steel, with a rounder sound, stands up to winter just as well.
