Porsche718 Boxster / Cayman 982
The Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman 2.0 exhaust in detail.
Since its launch, the four-cylinder boxer 718 has carried the same criticism: dynamically brilliant, it disappoints those coming from the flat-six with its voice. Yet much of the problem lies in the factory exhaust, not the engine. Properly orchestrated, this 2.0-litre turbo reveals a gravelly, rasping character, close to rally flat-fours, with crisp crackles on the overrun: that is what the Rog cat-back releases with the valves open. With the valves closed, the 718 becomes discreet again.
The page covers the type 982 Boxster and Cayman with the 2.0-litre turbo engine, 300 hp and 380 Nm, from 2016 to 2025. The Boxster GTS 2.5, the Cayman GTS 4.0, the GT4 and the GT4 RS each have their own page; your VIN is used to confirm the version before manufacturing.
On this turbocharged flat-four, the front part is a downpipe, which starts at the turbo and contains the catalytic converter; the page offers it under the “Manifold” option. Only with a map does this small turbocharged engine take advantage of it, up to the 368 hp and 483 Nm that our page publishes at Stage 2; fitted on its own, the downpipe simply enriches the voice. The 200-cell version keeps the 718’s emissions control.
Because the engine sits in the middle, the system lies just behind you and fits without welding, using clamps and gaskets, in about two hours. A 718 that already has factory valves keeps their control; the others receive a two-button Rog remote. As for material, titanium removes around 40% of the weight of 304 stainless steel for the same design, a detail that counts above a mid-mounted engine; it comes in brushed, gold or purple, and the central twin tip is available in chrome, gloss black or blued titanium.

Questions about the Porsche 718 Boxster / Cayman 2.0 turbo type 982 exhaust.
Boxster or Cayman 718 2.0: does the same system suit both?
Yes, the page covers both body styles of the 718 with the 2.0-litre turbo engine, from 2016 to 2025. Any doubt about your car, imported or modified? We read its VIN before committing to manufacturing.
Downpipe and map: what does a remapped 718 2.0 become?
The turbocharged four-cylinder responds well to tuning: our page states 368 hp and 483 Nm in Stage 2, more than 100 Nm gained over the standard 380 Nm. The cat-back alone, for its part, makes do with the standard ECU.
My fitted 718 2.0 is due for its vehicle inspection: what should I do?
Present it with the valves closed, with a sound close to standard. The factory downpipe or its 200-cell version keep emissions control. A 100-cell downpipe, however, depends on the vehicle and your country’s rules, which accept it or not, while a 718 without a catalytic converter only goes out on the circuit, the sole use it is reserved for.
Can the 718’s flat-four really sound good?
Yes, provided you set it free: its natural voice is gruff and slightly rasping, in the tradition of rally flat-fours, far from the factory murmur. It is not a flat-six, it is a different character, one the Rog system fully embraces with the valves open.
Porsche 718 Boxster / Cayman 2.0 turbo type 982: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
