    A question about this exhaust?

    Porsche718 Boxster / Cayman 982

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS / Spyder RS exhaust in detail.

The most extreme version of the Cayman, the GT4 RS receives the 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six derived from the GT3’s: 500 hp and 450 Nm, delivered right at the top of the rev counter. Its air intakes, installed in place of the rear side windows, already bring the induction sound right to your ears. Our page covers the 2022 to 2025 Cayman GT4 RS and 718 Spyder RS; the 420 hp GT4 has its own exhaust.

In this concert, the exhaust has to answer the intake, and the factory system, weighing 17.1 kg according to our data, remains a road-going compromise. With the valves open, the Rog cat-back gives a sharper, richer reply that follows the engine all the way to the limiter; with the valves closed, the GT4 RS heads to the circuit or comes home late without waking the whole neighbourhood.

The RS’s front section is a set of catalysed pipes downstream of the manifolds, which the page offers under the “Manifold” option. Combined with an ECU remap, they target the 550 hp and 500 Nm published for Stage 2; without one, the gain remains in the sound. Their 200-cell version cleans emissions just like the factory part.

Band clamps and gaskets, no welding, about two hours on a lift: the rear gets lighter without touching the engine, and the RS’s factory valves keep their control, with the Rog remote only used when they are absent. Titanium, around 40% lighter than 304 stainless steel for the same design, is the natural choice for an RS, in brushed, gold or purple.

Questions about the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS / Spyder RS 4.0 type 982 exhaust.

My 718 is a Spyder RS: does the GT4 RS page apply to me?

Yes. The 718 Spyder RS takes the same Rog system as the Cayman GT4 RS: same 500 hp 4.0-litre engine, same clamp-and-gasket fitting. Your VIN is only used to confirm the version and model year before manufacturing.

GT4 RS remapped with sport front pipes: what result?

Our page publishes 550 hp and 500 Nm at Stage 2, fifty horsepower more than the stock RS. On an engine that is already so sharp, the headroom remains measured, and the cat-back alone needs no map at all.

Vehicle inspection for a modified GT4 RS: does everything have to come off?

Not necessarily: return to a road configuration, valves closed for a voice close to standard and factory or 200-cell pipes for intact emissions control. The 100-cell pipes are a matter of the vehicle and your country’s rules, which accept them or not; a decat RS remains reserved for track use.

Isn’t the GT4 RS intake enough of a show?

It already takes up a big part of the soundtrack, that is true. The exhaust completes this concert and adds depth to every climb through the revs, which the factory system leaves in the background; with the valves closed, you go back to the intake alone.

Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS / Spyder RS 4.0 type 982: Does a valved exhaust system drone?

No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.

Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS / Spyder RS type 982: the GT3's flat-six, the exhaust system guide

The 718 Cayman GT4 RS is the most extreme version of the Cayman: mid-engined, with a track chassis and a 4.0-litre, 500 hp naturally aspirated flat-six that lives for revs. Everything here is geared towards efficiency, but the heavy factory...
