The Subaru WRX VB 2.4 Turbo exhaust in detail.
With the WRX VB, built since 2022, the turbocharged flat-four grows to 2.4 litres: 275 hp and 350 Nm, more generous torque, and still that syncopated beat that made Subaru’s rally cars a legend. Yet recent factory exhausts have smoothed out that character, to the point of making the VB almost mute.
Many owners want the boxer rumble back, and that is exactly what the Rog valved cat-back does: a deep, syncopated beat at idle, a gravelly charge and crackles on the overrun, with the valves open. With the valves closed, calm returns for the commute to the office. The page is for the VB 2.4; the Impreza STI GD and the WRX VA have their own, and your VIN is checked before manufacturing.
Under the VB, about two hours of workshop time is enough, no welding, with clamps and gaskets; the valves keep the factory control if there is one, otherwise the Rog remote takes over.
The “Manifold” option on this page replaces the front part that carries the catalytic converter, just after the engine. Fitted on its own, it affects sound and weight; combined with an ECU remap, it unlocks more power, to an extent that only the overall setup determines. For a WRX that also does the weekday commute, the 200-cell front part keeps emissions control, the 100-cell will be accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is reserved for track use, for VBs entered in track sessions. At the rear, the VB’s four black round tips stay true to the original style, with 304 stainless steel or titanium, around 40% lighter, changing only the weight and the tone.

Questions about the Subaru WRX VB 2.4 Turbo exhaust.
Moving from a WRX VA to a VB 2.4: can you keep the same system?
No: the VB 2.4, built since 2022, receives different parts from the VA, which has its own page, and your Subaru’s VIN is checked before every build.
Does the WRX VB’s 2.4 boxer need a new map after fitting?
Not to enjoy the sound, since the cat-back works with the factory ECU; for power, however, you need the front part and an ECU remap, and the gain depends on the setup.
Vehicle inspection in a WRX VB 2.4: what really matters?
Closed valves and an original or 200-cell front part, for active emissions control and a voice close to stock. A 100-cell will be judged case by case according to the car and the country, and a decat VB belongs on the track only.
Does the boxer rumble really come back on the WRX VB with the cat-back alone?
Largely, yes: the cat-back removes the factory exhaust’s filter and lets the boxer’s beat express itself with the valves open. The front part is only useful for those tuning the engine.
Subaru WRX VB 2.4 Turbo: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
Subaru WRX VB 2.4 Turbo: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
