The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera / Volante V12 exhaust in detail.
The DBS Superleggera places the 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 at the top of the modern range: 725 hp, 900 Nm, jet-like torque and majestic reach, in a grand touring package built from 2018 to 2024. Yet forced induction and emissions standards have softened its voice compared with the naturally aspirated V12s of old, and that is the regret its owners express most often.
The Rog valved cat-back, also known as a valve exhaust, answers exactly this regret: with the valves open, it unleashes the V12’s depth and harmonics, a deep presence at idle and a broad climb, punctuated by thoroughbred bangs on the overrun, then the grand tourer becomes hushed again as soon as the valves close. The DB11 V12, which shares this engine’s architecture, has its own page, and your VIN is checked before manufacturing.
Under a car of this standing, the exhaust fits without welding, with clamps and gaskets, in about two hours; the factory valve control is retained if there is one, otherwise the Rog remote decides.
After the V12’s turbos, the front section carrying the catalytic converter is a downpipe, which this page replaces under the “Manifold” option. On a Superleggera without a remap, it affects sound and weight; it is the map that turns that flow into power, depending on the tune. Because a Superleggera lives mainly on the road, the 200-cell version, which keeps emissions control, is the most coherent choice; the 100-cell will depend on the vehicle and your country’s rules, and the decat version is intended for track use only. Titanium, around 40% lighter than 304 stainless steel for the same design, echoes the car’s name.

Questions about the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera / Volante V12 exhaust.
DB11 V12 and DBS Superleggera V12: one system for two Astons?
No: despite a V12 5.2 from the same family, each car has its own parts; the DB11 V12 has its own page, and the 2018 to 2024 Superleggera is covered here, after checking the serial number.
Does a DBS Superleggera V12’s ECU need touching to fit the system?
Not at all: the cat-back gets along with the factory engine management and the 725 hp; an ECU remap only concerns those who add the downpipe, with a result that depends on the tune.
Vehicle inspection of an equipped DBS Superleggera V12: what precautions?
Close the valves and keep an original or 200-cell downpipe: the car regains its hushed cruising and an active catalytic converter. With the 100-cell, the answer lies with the rules in your country, and a decat Superleggera remains reserved for the track.
What does the cat-back do about the sound regret of DBS Superleggera owners?
It gives the twin-turbo V12 back the depth and harmonics that forced induction and emissions standards had softened, with the valves open. With the valves closed, nothing changes in the grand tourer’s refinement.
Does the DBS Superleggera Volante take the same system as the coupé?
Yes. The coupé and the Volante take the same Rog system: same chassis, same engine, same clamp-and-gasket fitting. Your VIN is only used to confirm the version and model year before manufacturing.
Aston Martin DBS Superleggera / Volante V12: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
