The Audi RS Q3 / RS Q3 Sportback F3 exhaust in detail.
The second-generation RS Q3, type F3, keeps a five-cylinder under its bonnet: the 2.5 TFSI turbo, now raised to 400 hp and 480 Nm, available since 2019. This engine has often been named the best in its class, and its 1-2-4-5-3 firing order, inherited from the rally quattros, gives it a rhythm you would recognise anywhere. Its 8U predecessor and the four-cylinder Q3 F3 are described on other pages.
At Audi, regulations being what they are, filters and silencers have been sized to contain this syncopated rumble. Open the valves of our valved cat-back and the gust comes back, with presence from start-up and rich crackles on the overrun; close them, and the SUV resumes perfectly civilised manners for town or the school run.
Like the other models carried over from the old catalogue, this page is not based on a detailed technical specification: your VIN, taken from field E of the registration document, is checked before any manufacturing, Sportback body included. Two hours in the workshop, clamps, gaskets: the system installs without welding, and the factory valves are still controlled through the drive modes, with the Rog remote for cars that have none.
Among the options, on this turbocharged five-cylinder the “Manifold” label refers to the downpipe, which houses the catalytic converter. As the RS Q3 is also a family SUV, the 200-cell downpipe is the most coherent choice, since it keeps emissions control; in 100-cell form it is accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules, and in decat form it is reserved for track use. Without an ECU remap, the 400 hp stays the same. For materials: 304 stainless steel with a full bass note, or titanium, around 40% lighter and finished in brushed, gold or purple.

Questions about the Audi RSQ3 / RSQ3 Sportback F3 exhaust.
Does the RS Q3 Sportback F3 take the same system as the regular RS Q3?
Yes. The RS Q3 and the RS Q3 Sportback F3 take the same Rog system: same chassis, same 2.5 TFSI five-cylinder, same clamp-and-gasket fitting. Your VIN is only used to confirm the version and model year before manufacturing.
Does the RS Q3 F3’s five-cylinder need an ECU remap?
Not as far as the cat-back is concerned, which is compatible with the original Audi programme. An ECU remap only becomes useful with the downpipe; we do not repeat here the Stage 2 figure shown on the page, which remains to be confirmed.
Ahead of the vehicle inspection, what should I do on an RS Q3 F3 fitted with the system?
Close the valves: the 2.5 TFSI becomes as discreet as on delivery again. Cat-back only or 200-cell downpipe, the catalytic converters carry on working. A 100-cell is accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules, whereas a decat downpipe concerns the track only.
Does a modified RS Q3 F3 stay pleasant on a long motorway journey?
No, as long as the valves are closed: the silencer absorbs the five-cylinder’s pulses at a steady speed. You open them for joining a motorway or on a clear road.
Audi RSQ3 / RSQ3 Sportback F3: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
Audi RSQ3 / RSQ3 Sportback F3: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
