The Audi S5 Coupé 8T 4.2 V8 exhaust in detail.
The first S5 in history, the 8T from 2007 to 2012 is powered by the 4.2 FSI, a naturally aspirated V8 rated at 354 hp. No turbo to smooth its voice: the response is immediate and power climbs with the revs. This page overlaps with the “S5 B8 Coupé 4.2 V8” page, based on a detailed technical specification; the V6 S5 8T and the RS5 8T each have their own page.
The factory exhaust, heavy and muffled, holds back precisely the midrange in which this V8 builds its crescendo. With the valves open, our valved cat-back reduces back pressure and makes the climb continuous, hoarse and then increasingly clear; with the valves closed, the coupé stays usable every day without wearing out its occupants.
This page comes from the old catalogue: we match your VIN against our technical reference before manufacturing, and point you towards the S5 B8 page if needed. Clamps, gaskets, no welding and about two hours in the workshop are enough for fitting; factory valves keep their control, otherwise the Rog remote operates them.
Offered on the page under the name “Manifold”, this V8’s front part houses the catalytic converters. A V8 S5 still taken out regularly is best served by the 200-cell, a guarantee of maintained emissions control; in 100-cell form, it is accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules, and its decat variant is reserved for track use. On a naturally aspirated engine, the power gain remains modest: 3 to 8% with an ECU remap. The V8 gets along equally well with full-sounding 304 stainless steel and with titanium, around 40% lighter and finished as you choose.

Questions about the Audi S5 Coupé 8T V8 exhaust.
Is my S5 V8 on the right page, 8T or B8 Coupé?
The engine is the same naturally aspirated 4.2. The S5 B8 Coupé page relies on a detailed technical reference, this one on the old catalogue. Your S5’s VIN lets us tell you the right one before ordering.
What does the front section bring to the S5 8T’s V8?
Mainly breathing and voice: on a naturally aspirated engine, the power gain is limited to 3 to 8% once remapped. The Stage 2 figure shown on this page does not match the one on the S5 B8 page and is not repeated here.
Modified S5 8T V8: how should it be presented at vehicle inspection?
With the valves closed, the V8 regains its stock discretion. The cat-back alone, or combined with the 200-cell front section, leaves emissions control intact. The 100-cell version is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country; the decat front section confines the S5 to the track.
Does a V8 S5 8T Cabriolet exist?
It does not exist: the S5 V8 4.2 was only sold as a coupé. The convertible, launched in 2009, and the Sportback received the 3.0 TFSI V6, which has its own page.
Audi S5 Coupé 8T V8: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
Audi S5 Coupé 8T V8: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
