Configuration
Audi RS5 Coupé / Cabriolet 8T 4.2 V8 Valved Exhaust System (2010-2016)
Valves
Operated by remote control, factory-paired.
Estimated at 0.50 m from the outlet, 45°, 2,000 rpm with a warm engine. Allow ± 2 dB depending on the engine and measuring point. A 3 dB difference is audible in a direct comparison; 10 dB sounds roughly twice as loud.
Configuration guide

AudiA4 / A5 / S4 / S5 / RS4 / RS5 B8 / 8T
The Audi RS5 Coupé / Cabriolet 8T 4.2 V8 exhaust in detail.
The first RS5, type 8T, received the 4.2 FSI from 2010 to 2016, a high-revving naturally aspirated V8 that spins beyond 8,000 rpm and produces 450 hp and 430 Nm. Its throttle response belongs to an era that modern turbos cannot reproduce. The RS4 and the twin-turbo V6 RS5 B9, like the S5 8T, have their own pages.
This V8’s natural sound is exceptional, hoarse in the midrange then screaming beyond 7,000 rpm, but the heavy, muffled factory exhaust holds part of it back. With the valves open, our valved cat-back reduces back pressure and makes the crescendo continuous all the way to the red line; with the valves closed, the coupé stays usable every day, without fatigue on long journeys.
On this naturally aspirated V8, the “Manifold” option lives up to its name: it replaces the manifolds and their catalytic converters. An RS5 still used every day is better off with 200-cell manifolds, since emissions control stays complete; the 100-cell versions are accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat ones are reserved for track use. Remapped, the V8 gains only 3 to 8%, the usual order of magnitude for naturally aspirated engines.
This model is one of the pages carried over without a detailed technical specification: your VIN is checked before manufacturing. The system is fitted with clamps and gaskets, no welding, in about two hours; the drive modes keep control of the factory valves, otherwise the Rog remote. Titanium, around 40% lighter, or 304 stainless steel with its full bass note: both materials are offered, titanium in three finishes.

Questions about the Audi RS5 Coupé / Cabriolet 8T V8 exhaust.
What is the difference from the RS4 Avant and RS5 Coupé B8.5 page?
Both pages concern the same V8 4.2. This one covers the 2010 to 2016 RS5 8T; the other, based on a detailed technical sheet, is for the facelifted RS4 Avant and RS5 Coupé from 2012 to 2015. Your VIN tells us which one to order.
Do the manifolds add power on the RS5 8T?
A little, with an ECU remap: 3 to 8% on this naturally aspirated V8. The Stage 2 figure shown on the page, well beyond this order of magnitude, remains to be verified. For the voice, the cat-back alone is already enough.
How does the RS5 8T present to the vehicle inspector once modified?
Presented with the valves closed, it returns to a V8 close to standard. With the cat-back alone or 200-cell manifolds, emissions control remains complete. For 100-cell manifolds, the outcome varies depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules, and without a catalytic converter the RS5 belongs only on the track.
Is the RS5 8T Cabriolet covered?
Yes. The RS5 Cabriolet, sold from 2013 to 2015, takes the same Rog system as the RS5 Coupé, with the same 4.2 V8 and the same clamp-and-gasket fitting. Your VIN is only used to confirm the version and model year before manufacturing.
Audi RS5 Coupé / Cabriolet 8T V8: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
Audi RS5 Coupé / Cabriolet 8T V8: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
