    A question about this exhaust?

    AudiA4 / A5 / S4 / S5 / RS4 / RS5 B9 / F5

The Audi RS4 and RS5 B9 exhaust in detail.

When Audi replaced the naturally aspirated V8 of the RS4 and RS5 with the 2.9 TFSI, a twin-turbo V6, torque jumped to 600 Nm for 450 hp, but the voice got lost along the way. The two turbos dampen the exhaust even before the system, which finishes the job. This page covers the B9 and B9.5 from 2019 to 2025; the RS4 and RS5 B8.5 with the 4.2 V8 have their own.

With the valves open, our valved cat-back removes what masks the twin-turbo: a muscular bass note under load, crisp crackles when you lift off the throttle, presence from start-up. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the silencer and the RS returns to a volume close to stock, which matters with a family estate like the RS4.

Upstream, the page’s “Manifold” option actually replaces the downpipes, which run from the turbos with their catalytic converters. Taken in 200-cell form, they leave emissions control in place; the 100-cell versions are accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat pair is reserved for track use. Without a new map, 450 hp stays 450 hp: the benefit is limited to sound and a little weight saving.

Fitting with clamps and gaskets, no welding, about two hours on a lift; the tailpipes are oval. The RS drive modes keep control of the factory valves, or the Rog remote takes over. 304 stainless steel for a full bass, or titanium around 40% lighter for the same design, which adds a metallic note at high revs and comes in brushed, gold or purple.

    Questions about the Audi RS4 / RS5 B9 / B9.5 2.9 TFSI V6 exhaust.

My RS5 B9.5 dates from 2024: does the page cover it?

The page runs to the 2025 model year: 2024 is therefore covered for the cat-back. For a later model year, the VIN lets us check what exists before any order.

Which Stage 2 figures for the RS4 B9?

No ECU remap needed for the cat-back. With the downpipes and a suitable map at an approved tuner, the published figures for the 450 hp 2.9 TFSI reach 530 hp and 830 Nm.

Can the RS4 B9 keep its Rog system on vehicle inspection day?

Close the valves before the inspection: the V6 becomes discreet again. Cat-back alone or 200-cell downpipes, the gases remain treated. With 100-cell downpipes, acceptance depends on the car and the rules in your country; in decat form, they restrict the RS4 to track use.

On the motorway, does the RS5 B9 resonate with the exhaust?

With the valves closed, the silencer works like a cruising exhaust: no drone at a steady speed. You open the valves when you decide, through the remote or the drive mode.

    Audi RS4 / RS5 B9 / B9.5 2.9 TFSI V6: straight pipe or resonator?

On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
