The Audi TT RS / TT RS Roadster 8S exhaust in detail.
The only TT of the 8S generation to receive a five-cylinder, the TT RS built from 2016 to 2022 carries the 400 hp, 480 Nm 2.5 TFSI turbo, often awarded best engine in its class. The four-cylinder TT 8S and TTS 8S each have their own exhaust.
This engine has a voice nothing else produces: its 1-2-4-5-3 firing order, inherited from Audi’s quattro rally cars, gives a syncopated rumble, part hoarse, part howling. In the standard TT RS, filters and silencers smother precisely what makes it unique. With the valves open, our valved cat-back unleashes the gust under acceleration and rich crackles on the overrun; with the valves closed, the little coupé becomes perfectly civilised again.
The cat-back is fitted without welding, using clamps and gaskets, and occupies a workshop for about two hours; the tips are round. If factory valves are present, the system retains their control and the driving modes stay in charge; otherwise, the Rog remote and its boot-mounted unit operate them.
On this five-cylinder, the “Manifold” option refers to the downpipe, which carries the catalytic converter at the turbo outlet. A TT RS that also does the weekday commute is better off with the 200-cell, emissions control kept; with 100 cells, it is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and its decat version is reserved for track use. Without a suitable map, 400 hp stays 400 hp: the part brings sound and a little less weight. 304 stainless steel for a full bass, or titanium around 40% lighter, more metallic at high revs, in brushed, gold or purple.

Questions about the Audi TT RS / TT RS Roadster 8S 2.5 TFSI exhaust.
Coupé or Roadster, which TT RS 8S can order this system?
Both. The TT RS coupé and the TT RS Roadster 8S take the same Rog system: same chassis, same 2.5 TFSI five-cylinder, same clamp-and-gasket fitting. Your VIN is only used to confirm the version and model year before manufacturing.
Does the TT RS 8S’s five-cylinder benefit from an ECU remap?
Not needed for the cat-back, which is happy with the factory map. Downpipe and an ECU remap by an approved tuner, on the other hand, open the way to the 494 hp and 630 Nm published on the page.
How does a valved TT RS 8S present at vehicle inspection?
With the valves closed, the five-cylinder becomes as discreet as on delivery. With the cat-back alone or combined with the 200-cell downpipe, the five-cylinder keeps all its emissions control. The 100-cell remains subject to the vehicle and your country’s rules, and the decat version turns the TT RS into a track car.
Does a modified TT RS drone on the motorway?
With the valves closed, the silencer works like a cruising exhaust and the coupé stays composed at a steady speed. The five-cylinder’s gust comes back when you open the valves, not before.
Audi TT RS / TT RS Roadster 8S 2.5 TFSI: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
