The BMW 330i B48 F30 / F31 exhaust in detail.
In 2016, the 330i F30 saloon debuted the B48, a 2.0-litre four-cylinder from BMW’s modular family: 252 hp and 350 Nm, with the same displacement as the N20 in the 320i and 328i but a more recent design. 330i F30 saloons and F31 Tourings registered from 2016 to 2019 fall under this page. The N20,320i and 328i share the system, the six-cylinder 340i has its own, and each has its own page.
The B48 is flexible and vigorous, but the factory exhaust filters it from end to end, until only a breath remains. Under load, though, it has a dry, dense voice that gains bite as the boost rises. Open the valves on the Rog cat-back and the 330i finally lets you hear its acceleration, with a more present bass at start-up; close them, and it regains the serenity of a touring saloon.
The garage of your choice fits it in about two hours, without any welding, since each pipe arrives bent to your saloon’s VIN and connects with clamps and gaskets. If your 330i has factory valves, their control through the driving modes is retained; otherwise, the two-button Rog remote works whatever the mode.
Offered under the “Manifold” option, the B48’s downpipe carries the catalytic converter at the turbo outlet; without a suitable map, it only changes the voice and lightens things slightly. Three levels exist: 200-cell for a saloon that keeps its emissions control, 100-cell accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules, and a decat version reserved for track use. As for the material, 304 stainless steel remains the understated choice, while titanium brings around 40% less weight and a brushed, gold or purple finish.

Questions about the BMW 330i B48 F30 / F31 2.0T exhaust.
Is the 330i F31 Touring compatible with this system?
Yes. The F30 saloon and the F31 Touring take the same Rog system: same chassis, same B48, same clamp-and-gasket fitting. Your VIN is only used to confirm the version and model year before manufacturing.
What can an ECU remap bring to the 330i B48?
The page does not publish a Stage 2 figure for this version, and we do not invent one; bear in mind that the cat-back works with the factory map, and that the downpipe only translates into power with an ECU remap by an approved tuner.
Which 330i F30 should be presented to the inspector, and in what state?
Presented with the valves closed, with the cat-back alone or the 200-cell downpipe, it keeps its catalytic converter and a sound level close to standard; the 100-cell is accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules, and the decat version is reserved for track use.
330i B48 or 320i N20: is the system the same?
Yes, the F30 body and the displacement are identical, and the guide presents a single system for all three versions; each engine nevertheless keeps its own page, and the VIN confirms yours.
Can a 330i’s B48 drone on the motorway?
With the valves closed, no: the gases pass through the silencer designed for cruising and the saloon stays composed, even on a long journey at a steady speed.
BMW 330i B48 F30 / F31 2.0T: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
BMW 330i B48 F30 / F31 2.0T: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
