The BMW 335i GT F34 exhaust in detail.
The 335i GT F34 combines the hatchback space and longer wheelbase of the 3 Series Gran Turismo with the six-cylinder that topped its petrol range: the N55, 3.0 litres, single twin-scroll turbo and Valvetronic, for 306 hp and 400 Nm. The cars built from 2013 to 2016 are those covered by our page. The four-cylinder 320i and 330i GT have their own page.
This engine has a real voice, inherited from a long line of BMW inline-sixes: round, even, slightly hardened at high revs. On the standard GT, silencers designed for the acoustic comfort of a long-distance cruiser reduce it to a whisper. With the valves open, the Rog cat-back brings out that roundness from start-up and lets a hoarser tone build under load; with the valves closed, the 335i GT goes back to being the quiet, relaxing touring car for long stages.
Installation touches neither the tailgate nor the bodywork: clamps, gaskets and about two hours on a lift are enough for a system bent to your VIN. The valves stay controlled by the original switchgear if the car has it; otherwise, the Rog remote and its box in the boot take over.
The front part, offered under the “Manifold” option, is the N55’s downpipe, with its catalytic converter; fitted on its own, it affects the sound and the weight, and it is the ECU remap that converts it into horsepower. On a grand tourer that covers thousand-kilometre stages, the 200-cell keeps the catalytic converter at work; the 100-cell is accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules, and the decat version is reserved for track use. As for material, 304 stainless steel accompanies the N55’s round tone, while titanium lightens it by around 40%.

Questions about the BMW 335i GT F34 3.0T exhaust.
Is the 335i GT system the same as the 335i F30 saloon system?
No, the Gran Turismo has a longer wheelbase and its own system, described here; the 335i F30 has its own page. Your VIN confirms compatibility before manufacturing.
Remapping the 335i GT: for what figures?
The published figures for the Gran Turismo are 368 hp and 557 Nm, torque you feel above all when loaded up, provided a downpipe and an ECU remap go together; the cat-back fits with the stock engine management.
BMW 335i GT F34 3.0T with a Rog exhaust: what should you know about vehicle inspection?
With the cat-back only or the 200-cell sports catalytic converter, emissions control is retained: present the car with the valves closed. The 100-cell brings more sound and flow, and whether it is accepted at the emissions test depends on the car and local rules; the decat version is intended for track use.
Will a six-cylinder Gran Turismo drone on the motorway to the holidays?
No: with the valves closed, the gases run through the cruising silencer and the cabin stays calm, even fully loaded; you open up only on your own initiative.
Which material suits a 335i GT best?
304 stainless steel matches the N55’s round tone and resists winters; titanium is around 40% lighter for the same design and brings a clearer note, with three finishes.
BMW 335i GT F34 3.0T: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
